Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Review by Bennett2428
"Revamped Perfectly"
If you've never played Megaman X before (SNES) chances are you may have a more difficult time playing this game than the person who has more knowledge of how the game mechanics work.
I'm just going to dive right into the review...
Graphics (9/10)
The reason I don't give this game a perfect 10 in the graphics department is because I kind of have a tiny problem with how X looks but thats all. Other than that minor tid bit everything looks great with its revamped 3D look.
Story (10/10)
Once you think about the whole X series story, it kind of makes the games a lot more fun. Basically what happened is that X, his red armored buddy Zero, and the very strong Sigma were all in the same Maverick Hunter Group. "Maverick" is the name used for a Reploid that has gone haywire and begins killing humans, destroying terrain, etc. *SPOILERS* Well for some reason one day Sigma decides he wants to become a Maverick and lead a rebellion. His followers are the Mavericks that you fight in this game as well as other X games.
But the cool thing to me about the story and the games is how they tie them together so smoothly, and I believe (not totally sure) that in later X games, some things pop up that are from the previous X games too.
Controls (10/10)
The controls in this game are very smooth and pretty much cut and dry. Not much can be said about this section except that all of the buttons are of full use and you will need them all (unless you dash with -->--> instead of O) If you want basically warp speed shooting for the tougher enemies that take more than a few rounds of shots, get up close to then and alternate with Square and Triangle as fast as you can.
Replay Value (9/10)
The replay value is good but there isn't enough. Sure *SPOILERS* you can unlock Vile and you can play on either Normal or Hard mode but when you're X, Normal and Hard mode only take around 5 hours tops.
Music (10/10)
I absolutely love the music in this game. All the stages except 2 or 3 will have you humming the tunes later in the day because they are so catchy. Best music in the game would have to be Boomerang Kuanger's level.
All in all this is a must have for anyone that calls him/herself a PSP owner. Its very addicting and if you want a semi-challenge with X then go through the story to get Zero's Buster (Sigma's Palace 2 is really tough this way.) There's a great story to this game, all of the enemies are beautifully remastered, and the voice acting is very well done as well IMO. Any Megaman fan better not hesitate to get this game or else you aren't a true Megaman fan.
Be on the look out for more X remakes for the PSP!
