Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai

"Portable fighting on a new level"
Dragonball Z Shin Budokai rocked the video game store shelves on 3/7/06 and started a revolution in handheld gaming. The game included awesome graphics, gameplay, and a great simulation of a DBZ episode for a fan. The game features many great game modes including Dragon Road (which is the story mode) in which you can unlock: characters, transformations, and card stamps which make up a very cool other game mode. Then there is the arcade mode, in which you can choose your character and fight a randomly selected line of characters. In this game mode you collect dragonballs after each enemy you defeat. At the end your character makes a wish to the magical dragon Shenron. Then there are the Z-trial modes which include survival and time attack modes. In the survival mode you defeat as many enemies as you can before your life runs out, try and beat your best score over and over. In the time attack mode you beat as many enemies as you can in a certain ammount of time. You can also try to beat your best score in this mode.
Gameplay 9.5- This game had awesome gameplay. It was much more fast paced than the original budokai games. You could use the aura burst mode to swing behind your opponents and pop 'em in the face in slow motion or even fly up high and throw a huge energy bomb at them. It flows very smoothly and not jumpy like some other fighter games out there.
Graphics 9.0- The game also featured very good graphics. The game does not follow a realistic graphics setting, but trying to look more like the anime series the game is based on. The characters and special moves are just amazing, but the backround detail is a bit fuzzy so I gave it a 9.0
Replayability 8.0- The game's story mode isn't really all that different from the arcade game mode. You could go through and choose a chapter in the dragon road mode for a replay of a famous battle though. But the long lasting fun of the arcade game mode Is worth buying the game for.
Overall-9.0 The game's combination of graphics and gameplay made it a very good game especially for a portable system. This game helps us see the capability of this great system
