Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Review by ricky_lo87
"Nothing like an old-school game remade with new-school flavor!"
Mega Man X is one of the top 10 SNES games of all time and it deserves that spot 100%! From fast-paced shooting to awesome and cool-looking bosses, Mega Man X became the pinnacle of future Mega Man games. This was 1993... Now 13 years later and the first entry into this popular series returns with all-new enhancements and add a little more depth to the confusing, yet interesting Mega Man X story!
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is a remake! Of course! But it's far more than a standard remake! It's been "REMADE"! With all new cutscenes, a 3-D graphics engine, voiceovers, and remixed music, Maverick Hunter X is all you can expect from a Mega Man game done right!
The tight gameplay and amazing side-scrolling fun can be found in this remake. Everything is still intact and you can definitely tell.
Gameplay: 9/10
The 3-D graphics add new life to the game and is virtually eye candy! Sweet!
All the characters are in 3-D and the amazing amount of detail really shows! You can really see the uniqueness of each boss as you begin battle!
Graphics: 9/10
All the characters make their return, from Mega Man X and Zero to Sigma and Vile, complete with voiceovers! Of course, some voices are nice while others are kind of funny. But of course, all are serious as Mega Man X tends to have a dark story to it! The remixed music is either very good or very bad. Some stages makes you wish the original was there because all the memories you may have had while playing this game. But it's overall good!
Sound: 8/10
With an all-new movie, which you can unlock after successfully completing the game the first time, called "The Day of Sigma" which really clears up some confusing facts about the Mega Man X story. It is a nice touch. Also, after completing the game, you get to play the role of Vile, X's archnemesis in his quest to change the world. It is cool to use all of Vile's assorted weapons, but it can be a small hassle... And finally, a demo of the upcoming Mega Man Powered Up can also be found on the UMD, which allows you to play Cut Man's stage and if you have a friend, you can do some game sharing to play Fire Man's stage! It's a great bonus which adds a bit more replay value to this short, but awesome game!
Value: 10/10
Overall, this game is must-have in any Mega Man collection and shows why the Blue Bomber is still alive and will remain alive for years to come! I give this game a 9/10!
