Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee
Review by I_LUV_GTA_SA
"Golf mixed with loads of fun!"
Everybody's Golf was one of the first games to come out on the PSP and although facing other heavy titles like Grand Theft Auto and Lumines it still made a mark on the shelves.
Gameplay: 9/10
If you're looking for a pro golf simulation, go for Tiger Woods 2006, however if you're looking for a golf game which you can have lots of fun on, choose this. Anyway, I only gave this a 9/10 because I think it's lacking on real physics of the ball. There is a great wireless multiplayer as well which brings out the true quality of this game. However in the single player mode it can be quite limited with only 4 different modes, putting practice, just a normal round, challenge mode and training.
Graphics: 10/10
If any of the readers reading this have played a DS with super Mario 64 and enjoyed it, you will love the graphics. Some of the scenery looks a bit scrappy but the developers have obviously spent a lot of time on characters animations, each character having at least two different animations.
Sound: 7/10
This is where the game really lets itself down. The background music is the sort you would get on a dated port and not on a high quality Sony game. There's no choice of different tracks either. Fortunately the PSP has headphones so everybody else doesn't have to listen to the same music being played over and over again like a broken record.
Characters and items: 10/10
This isn't an official category but since this game has got so many I've decided to put it in anyway. This game features 10 characters each with their own personality and then around 500 items you can customize them with so you can literally be anyone. Once you have chosen a perfect look for you character if you play with them on the course a lot you will gain loyalty and your skills with go up respectively. You can earn items, characters and courses by doing tournaments and matches. You could easily get around three items in half an hour if you try hard enough.
Overall: 9/10 not an average
Pros:
- Unlimited Customization
- Good fun
- Literally anyone can play it
Cons:
- Repetitive sound
- Bad scenery
Buy/Rent
I would definitely say buy it, no question about it. I brought a PSP Giga pack which included Everybody's Golf or you can buy it for a reasonable price of £30, around $50 which is definitely worth the fun you'll be getting out of it.
