Infected

Review by treecat22

"Great Arcade Style Shooter"

Graphics - (8/10)

The graphics are very crisp and clear, especially for a portable game. The game doesn't slow down at all even when their are 20+ Infected on screen. My only complaint in the graphics department is their isn't much variety. Each level does have something making it distinct but the whole game takes place in New York so their isn't a whole lot of variety in level other than some subways and such. The Infected models also lack variety. In all Including berserk there are probably 10 different types of Infected. Other than that the graphics are great and easy on the eyes.

Sound - (8/10)

The sound in this game is fantastic. From the exploding body parts to just plain explosions. The soundtrack isn't my favorite consisting of wannabe metal bands such as Slipknot. Although in the end it does fit in the game. The chats between character's on the map selection are for the most part very funny. Overall sound is great.

Story - (6/10)

The story is pretty basic. You are a cop who has been selected to kill the Infected because you are immune to the virus and your blood kills them. That's pretty much the whole story.

Gameplay - (9/10)

This is where the game really shines. There are pretty much three types of levels. Defender, which consists of protecting citizens while killing the infected. The catch is there are no helicopter's to pick them up so you can't just pick them up and drop them off, you have to actually defend them. The next game type is Helipad in which you pick up the civilians and take them to a helicopter with a limited amount of seats and in the process you must kill all of the infected. The final game type is Kill 'em All, which consists of just killing all the infected, it's as simple as that their aren't even civilians on these maps. The controls may take a bit to get used to but after you do get used to them they are great and perfect for the game One of the main selling points of the game was teh online play and "Infecting" other people. This was a great idea but was executed wrong. It's easy to get a connection but if you start beating the other person they inevitably leave so they don't get infected. The multiplayer is just deathmatch with some Infected thrown in. Overall in gameplay, The single player is awesome but repetitive, and the multiplayer is boring and the person usually leaves if your beating them.

Play Time/Replayability - (6/10)

This is a very short game. I can't see beating it and getting all gold medals, avatars, and upgrades taking over 5 hours. This is where the game is really lacking. It is very fun form the short amount of time it takes to beat. And if the multiplayer was better I could see this having tons of replayability but it doesn't. The only reason I will probably pick it up again is to see the $1 avatar when it's released. And to maybe try multiplayer again, although I doubt it will be any better.

Overall - (7/10)

While it is a great game and fun while it lasts, It just lacks any replayability and is too short.

Rent or Buy

I would say rent it simply because the game is so short and has no replayability, and the online isn't that good.
