Forward (FWD) Well, this is my first guide. Ifve never been good at opening essays, so sorry if this forward fails. This guide will help you through the game (I havenft finished the game yet, Ifll update as I continue though). Since youfre most likely a person who uses English as their main language, Ifll explain what the skills do, what items do, how to get through missions that seem hard, and the classes. Well, this crude farce has gone on long enough, so let us move onto the next section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 2. Blank Easel Characters (BEC) Most of you are probably asking: gWhat and/or who are these eBlank Eaself Characters of which you speak?h Well they are the main characters, and the gBlank Easelh is the name of their band/brigade/group/et cetera. On a lesser note, my Japanese is horrid, if not near nil; therefore I canft really gain an accurate biography from the site (Language translators do not really work when it comes to more than one word, so donft email me saying gbabelfish noobh). However, Ifll briefly tell you their names and who they are. If you donft want to read me pontificating, move onto the guide by typing: gPrologue,h in your find box (CRTL+F), without the quotations or comma. If you do want to read, about the characters or their skills, continue on then. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Klarissa (tBA[X) Short Bio: Shefs the heroine. She has blonde hair and a gun. At first she looks like a boy (donft worry, shefs straightc to the best of my knowledge that is), but thatfll change (looking like a boy that is >_>). She has some bad blood with Rupert. She has some family that youfll find out about later on. When you get her: You start with her. In Battle Skills: Gun Burst? (Note: I donft know all the skill names, nor do I want to enter the kanji for them, so if you see gSkill 1,h gSkill 2,h ga question mark at the end,h et cetera, donft panic, theyfre in the same order as they appear in game.) Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 32 Range: Infinite (As long as it is in a near height even line.) Effect: Hits everything within the line of fire, accuracy decreases the further the targets are. (Stationary targets like switches will always get hit.) Target Type: Everything within the line. Sacrifice Attack Type: Misc MP Cost: 16 Range: 4 Effect: Cuts your HP by half to deal massive damage. (If you arenft using her original job, your HP will be lowered to 1 instead!) Target Type: 1 hex Additional Notes: Use this with the Sacred Saviour job, or the last Sacred Saviour passive job skill in order to target up to seven units. This is an excellent way to kill multiple units and rack up Klarissa's EXP/PSP multipliers. Royal Cheer? Attack Type: Buff MP Cost: 8 Range: Everything in the surrounding hexes Effect: Boosts RES for a turn of everyone surrounding you, including enemies. Target Type: Everyone in the immediate hexes around you. Turn Steal? Attack Type: Debuff/Support MP Cost: 32 Range: 3 Effect: Steals the targetfs line in order. Target Type: 1 hex Passive Skills/Traits: Resists all elements by 20% Maneuverability: 3 MOV 3 CLM Pros: Range with original job weapon. Nice RES. Sacrifice really helps against bosses and high HP units. Cons: Original job weapon only fires in a line. Original job weapon can't receive upgrades via purchasing. Low PRY. Poor movement. Average stats. Bad attacking abilities (damage-wise). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firs (tBA[X) Short Bio: Hefs Klarissafs guardian, and brother. Hefs anti-social, and tends to think about his past. When you get him: You start with him. In Battle Skills: Skill 1 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 12 Range: 1 Effect: Deals high damage, but has low accuracy. Target Type: 3 hexes surrounding you. Skill 2 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 20 Range: 3 Effect: Creates an explosion, deals low damage, but has very good accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex Skill 3 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 8 Range: 1 Effect: Deals low damage, it also has low accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex Status Cure? Attack Type: Support MP Cost: 16 Range: 3 Effect: Removes all status effects from allies within the area; however Firs will now suffer from the status effects that were removed. Target Type: All allies within the area Passive Skills/Traits: Resists water/ice by 50%. Job weapon ignores hard attribute. Maneuverability: 4 MOV 3 CLM Pros: Very high HP and VP. Ability to remove status effects is very useful. He can take a beating. (As long as it isn't from magic.) Cons: Average movement. ATP and DEF arenft all that great for a melee focused unit. Poor RES. Low AIM. Poor MGR. Very low PRY. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Revin (B) Short Bio: Talented magician, and he has a crush on Klarissa (obviously). When you get him: Act 1-7 B In Battle Skills: Skill 1 Attack Type: Magic MP Cost: 24 Range: 4 Effect: Deals damage based on SOR, and affects RES on occasion. Target Type: 1 hex Additional Notes: Combine this skill with the Spellcaster job and weapon to increase damage at least two-fold. Skill 2 Attack Type: Misc MP Cost: 18 Range: 4 Effect: Deals damage based on HP percents and has very, very random accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex Additional Notes: Use this on bosses or high HP enemies, if you can hit with a decent success rate that is. Skill 3 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 24 Range: 1 Effect: Deals damage based on ATP, has low accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex Skill 4 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 36 Range: 1 Effect: Deals damage based on ATP, has low accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex Passive Skills/Traits: Resists wind by 50%. Maneuverability: 5 MOV 4 CLM Pros: Good spells. Good physical skills. Very, very impressive MOV, CLM, and RES. Cons: Kind of low PRY. He doesnft really excel in either Magic or Melee until you change jobs, or have him use another jobfs weapon. Very average, except for mobility. At later levels, he tends to eat up VP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Labryna (uCi) Short Bio: Was previously the kingfs magician, shefs quite powerful and has some very good skills. When you get her: Act 1-2 In Battle Skills: Lightning Attack Type: Magic MP Cost: 8 Range: 3 Effect: Deals lightning damage to an enemy. Lightning is obviously effective against machine enemies. Target Type: 1 hex Revive Attack Type: Support MP Cost: 48 Range: 4 Effect: Revives a fallen ally to the selected hex. Target Type: 1 fallen ally Teleport Attack Type: Support MP Cost: 8 Range: 6 Effect: Teleports you to another hex, ignores if you can or canft cross the hex(es), and height (to a degree). Target Type: 1 hex Summon Doppelganger Attack Type: Support MP Cost: 32 Range: 3 Effect: Summons a doppelganger of Labryna, it has 1 HP, but the rest of its stats mimic your own. It can move, but it cannot attack, use items, or use skills. However, it can receive buffs and it has its own turn in the order. Target Type: 1 hex/summon Additional Notes: When you're facing enemies that abuse status inflicting skills, summon a doppelganger, the enemies will automatically target your unit that has the lowest HP (which is the doppelganger), they'll waste their MP and turns trying to inflict the doppelganger with status effects while you take them out. Passive Skills/Traits: Resists fire by 50%. Maneuverability: 3 MOV 2 CLM Pros: Teleport skill offers very good movement. Can revive. The doppelganger is a great meat shield. Very high MP. Low VP consumption. Cons: Low HP. In later missions youfre lucky if she gets to move after most characters have moved twice. (Low RES) Can only really excel with magic. Not very mobile. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Longer (Oi[) Short Bio: A sell sword, he believes nothing is useless. Hefs a good cook too. When you get him: Act 1-15 In Battle Skills: Shuriken Sweep? Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 8 Range: 1 Effect: Throws a shuriken in a curved path that can hit multiple enemies. Target Type: Up to 5 hexes Knockback? Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 32 Range: 1 Effect: Knocks an enemy back up to 4 hexes, the more hexes the target is knocked back the more damage is dealt. Can only knockback if the height of hexes in the path is even. Target Type: 1 hex Hyper Weapon Attack Type: Buff MP Cost: 32 Range: 3 Effect: Increases targets ATP by 50%. Target Type: 1 hex Additional Notes: Since Longer has one of the lowest MP multipliers, change his job to Sacred Saviour (or equip their last passive skill), and use it to buff mutliple allies while saving MP. Skill 4 Attack Type: Debuff? MP Cost: 8 Range: 4 Effect: Unknown. Target Type: 1 hex Passive Skills/Traits: Resists earth by 50%. Maneuverability: 4 MOV 3 CLM Pros: Hyper weapon is an amazing buff for himself, or anyone with physical attacks. His weapon is ranged. High damage. He has very good PRY. High HP. Cons: Has poor MP. His MOV and CLM are mediocre. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tony (gj[) Short Bio: The dog, hefs pretty awesome. He often sense enemies in the area while the group is babbling. When you get him: Act 1-1 In Battle Skills: None. Passive Skills/Traits: Resists all elements by 40% Maneuverability: 5 MOV 5 CLM Pros: Decent in early battles. As an amazing 40% resistance to all elements. Doesnft use VP. Cons: Canft use skills, items, equipment, or even change jobs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 3. Walkthrough/Guide (WLT) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sub Table of Contents: I. EXP, levels and PSP, her wait a secondc II. Your stats and you. III. Status effects and you. IV. Tips. V. Act-to-Act Guide. VI. Making characters. VII. Applying Job Skills. VIII: Miscellaneous. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. EXP, levels and PSP, hey wait a secondc Level: This is the characters level, when you level up, your attributes increase, generic. EXP: As you acquire EXP, your unit will level up, generic. Job Level: This is the job level of the class your character currently is. As this increases, you can use more skills, and can use the skills of other classes. PSP: The EXP of Job Levels, same principle as EXP. (For some reason, the game makers named it PSP, probably for cheap kicks.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Your stats and you. HP: Your health, if it reaches 0, your character is basically unconscious and removed from the map until the end of the battle. MP: This is your ability to use skills. Unless you have another unit transfer MP, or you can recover it due to skill effects, youfll be forced to use your standard attack when it reaches 0. Later, and I mean later in the game you can buy MP restoring items, however the price-to-effectiveness raito is quite sad. VP: Sort of like stamina, when it reaches around 5%, youfll start losing HP. (Note: You lose VP even if you donft move.) ATP: Your attack power. Itfs the strength of your standard attack, and skills that are physical based. SOR: Your magic attack power. Itfs the strength of your magical attacks. It also determines how much the heal skills heals. DEF: Defensive power against physical attacks. MGR: Defensive power against magical attacks. AIM: Your accuracy. (Most magic attacks and skills donft miss, therefore this doesnft affect them.) PRY: Your resistance to harmful status effects like poison. (The higher it is, the better the resistance.) RES: Response. This is basically your speed in which you act. The higher it is, the more the specific unit will be able to act. WGT: Your total equipment weight, this value is subtracted from your VP each turn. MOV: How many hexes the unit can move. CLM: How high the unit can jump. Gender: For some reason (which the game makers found even funnier), they added this to the unit display. Itfs pretty obviously whatfs what, and who has what parts. This is useless for any lucrative reason. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Status effects and you. (I need to stop looking at those free clinic puberty pamphlets.) Poison Effect: The most generic and common status effect besides K.O./Death. Drains a small amount of HP each turn, it CAN kill you if you donft watch out. After a few turns it will wear off. The amount of turns corresponds with your PRY. Appearance: Unit flashes purple. Has an orange box with what looks like green ooze over their head. Stone Effect: Makes the unit immobile, unable to attack, unable to use skills, and unable to use items. If an attack hits the unit, it will (obviously shatter) become unconscious. Appearance: Unit turns grey. Has an orange box with a cube over their head. Tear/Skill less Effect: Makes the unit unable to use skills, everything else is normal, nor does anything decrease. (Ifm aware it isnft the official name, however you get a picture of a tear over your unit, and you canft use skills.) Appearance: Unit flashes teal. Has an orange box with a tear over their head. Berserk Effect: You lose control of the unit affected and they attack and move whoever and wherever they want. Youfll regain control after a few turns. Appearance: Unit flashes yellow. Has an orange box with scribble lines over their head. HP Down Effect: Cuts the unitfs maximum HP by half for a period of time. Again the duration corresponds to your PRY. (Again, Ifm aware this probably isnft the official name.) Appearance: Unit flashes white. Has an orange box with HP and an arrow pointing down over their head. No Recovery Effect: The unit cannot restore HP. (I really canft think of a decent name for this.) Appearance: Unit flashes black. Has an orange box with a red cross over their head. (Irony has never been so subtle...) Hard Effect: All physical attacks, besides two classes, will deal 1 damage. You wonft be inflicted with this sadly. Appearance: There is no change in sprite. Unconscious Effect: Unit is no longer useable. However they can be revived. Theyfre removed from the map. (Yet again, Ifm aware this probably isnft the official name, however your units donft die, and they can be brought back in the same battle.) Appearance: Unit is removed from the map entirely. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V: Tips. Before I begin with the Act-to-Act guide, Ifll give some general tips: -Usually, the Spellcaster job can be used to get through missions fast, especially with Revin. (I personally stray away from the Spellcaster job and offensive skills myself because it makes missions too easy.) -Level up when you can revisit areas, itfs a good way to earn money, and sometimes items, as well as gaining valuable PSP points. -If youfre bored, level up the Sacred Saviour job class to its maximum, the ability to target up to seven units plus adding additional attack range is very, very useful. Why take more turns to buff/debuff/attack your party and/or enemies when you can just take one? -Take advantage of the response system, if your opponent can only make one move for every five you do, you have a nice advantage. -Use the Sacred Saviour armor with most units, it offers good defense along with very good magic resistance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI: Act-to-Act Guide: Well, herefs probably what youfve been waiting for, the walkthrough. Now as I mentioned before, I havenft completed the game, but Ifll help with what I can. So, turn on your PSP, put on your eager face, and boot up Wild Arms: XF. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue: Non-Japanese Speakers and/or Readers, Watch the intro, click X, or O until you get to do something else. Japanese Speakers and/or Readers, Watch the intro, and listen to more than just the awesome music. (Or read and listen, your choice.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue Continued: Objectives/Conditions: -Defeat all enemies. Rupert canft be killed, donft bother trying to chase and/or fight him. (If you didnft know, Rupert is the man in the cloak and with a piece of straw in his mouth.) Recommended Units: All units must participate. Additional Comments: Well, we have some good music, and you might as well enjoy the easy mission. Guide: Well, now that we can play, let us do that! But waitc You probably donft know how to play. To make it worse, you probably donft even know how to move. Well, thatfs why youfre reading this. (If you know how to play, or donft really want to listen to my ranting tutorial, type [IH8U] in your CRTL+F box to get the instructions.) Anyways, as youfll notice, you start out with a hex type entity with additional hexes within it around your unit. Youfll see: A sword, a boot, another divided hex within a hex, a triangle with a circle over it, a bottle, and a piece of paper with lines on it. Now to explain all of those confusing things: Click X at anytime to go back a page. Click O to confirm. Sword: This is your standard attack; most units can only attack the hexes around them within a one cell radius. This deals minimal damage, and has average to poor accuracy, donft use it too much. If you want to, your units can gang up (or perform a gCombo Attackh) on an enemy, you can select the attack option, then when you have a choice of selecting O, or Triangle, click triangle, and then have your next unit attack with their standard attack. Or you can gang up on them while you position your units. View the main site for more details: http://www.wild-arms.net/XF/system_3.html#formation (Ifm not energetic.) Divided Hex: These are your skills. When you have more than one set of job skills, you can click left or right to switch pages. Obviously, you use up and down to move through skills on the same page. Bottle: Click this to use items. Using an item will take your turn. Boot: This is to move. Click circle to bring up your move range, and the select the hex you want to move to. If youfre not satisfied with your movement choice, click X to return to your previous hex. Paper and Lines: DER, Restart Mission, Options and Save Data. In that order. Circle and Triangle: End turn. Use this if you arenft going to attack. At any time you can click X to remove the hex around your unit. If you click on O while your cursor is on a unit you can view its move range, and if you click O on an empty hex, you can view the stats of all units on the battlefield. WELL, anyways, I hope you understood my descriptions, and thanks for bearing with me on them. For now we should get back to the battlec [IH8U] Just use the standard attack option on the enemies, and this should wrap up quickly. If youfre low on HP, just use a healing item. There are no real tactics or threats in this mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Act 1-1: Objectives: Defeat the three enemies. Recommended Units: All units must participate. Additional Notes: You can now use skills and change jobs. Your normal jobs are more than adequate for the mission; feel free to change jobs if you want to though. If you change jobs, be warned that ALL your equipment and items will be removed, and you will have to re-equip it. Since you donft know how to work anything, you can press triangle to bring up the menu in the unit selection screen. Here is a screen, with information on each option: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v353/abc123456/SCREEN2.jpg And here is a gdetailedh description of what each thing does. D E R: Basically it tells you what you have to do. The catch you ask? Itfs all in Japanese (obviously). Although it still gives helpful enough information by showing you the targets. Second Option: Allows you to see your money and progress. (Creative name, I know.) Battlefield View: View the battlefield, examine units, and see your starting point. Status: View the stats of all your units. Class Change: Change your class/job. You can view the effects that your job change will have on your unit. Skills: This is where you assign other class skills to your unit. Equipment: This is your equipment and items. The first option allows you to edit equipped items. Click the next first option, and youfll be able to assign items to a unit, click L or R to change units. Click the second option on the main list, and youfll be able to edit equipped gear. Press Square while assigning items or gear will remove it from the unit. Sorry for the lack of precise detail, however, I feel itfs best if you get a feel for the menu yourself by experimenting. When youfre comfortable enough with the menu, you can get out of it and then press start to begin your sortie. Guide: This is pretty straight forward, no pun intended. You donft have many options, you can either: A) rush them with all your units. Or B) snipe them down with Klarissafs gun while having Firs and Tony rush them. Watch out though, if one of your units is in the way of Klarissafs gun path, youfll be unable to hit your enemy. If your units get down to low health heal them. Although they should, you have way more response than the enemy, meaning youfll have more turns. They do have a skill to lower your response though, as well as one that can drain some of your MP. And one of them has magic; the damage shouldnft go over 10 though. Notable Rewards: Tony joins you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Act 1-2: Objectives: Activate the switch (the yellow prism at the top of the tower like building). Recommended Units: All units, yet again, must participate. Guide: This is pretty straight forward, but it can be confusing (I was stuck for quite some time on this one). You start off with Klarissa and Tony (Firs is off with Labryna), for now just move over to the chest and break it open; destroy any unit that get in your way, EXCEPT for the boss. After a few turns, Firs and Labryna will join you, have either Firs or Klarissa walk to the tower where the prism is and have them use their second skill on the prism. Or have Labryna use her first skill, lightning, on the prism. Avoid the boss at all cost, have Labryna use her second skill to revive any units that die. Notable Rewards: Labryna joins you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Act 1-3: Objectives: -Donft lose any units. -Have all units reach the escape point. (Refer to the D E R if youfre confused or donft know where it is.) Recommended Units: Change your units to the Fantastica job (third job after your custom job) and remember to equip them with equipment and items. Additional Notes: Godspeed? Guide: Stick to the path with the barrels on the left side of the map, have your units rush through and attack the barrels. More than likely, one of your units will get hammered while you retreat, so heal if need be. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Act-to-Act guide will be continued at a later time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Making characters. Will be continued at a later time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Applying Job Skills. Will be continued at a later time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII: Miscellaneous. Ifll add stuff that I feel doesnft fit anywhere else after Ifve completed the rest of the guide. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 4. Warhead (WRH) In Battle Skills: Skill 1 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 16 Range: 1 Effect: The most powerful Warhead skill, suffers from poor accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex Skill 2 Attack Type: Physical MP Cost: 16 Range: 1 Effect: The weaker Warhead skill, it has superior accuracy. Target Type: 1 hex MP Recover Attack Type: Buff MP Cost: 0 Range: Self Effect: Restore double the current value of MP with an 85% success chance, if this fails unit will lose all its MP. Target Type: Self Additional Notes: This skill is a must for long battles later on in the game. This will allow you to use MP intensive skills and keep using them in long sieges. Equip Change Attack Type: Buff MP Cost: 8 Range: Self Effect: Allows you to change equipment (Weapon, Shield, and Armor), takes up a turn. Target Type: Self Passive Skills/Traits: Focuses on ATP. Maneuverability: 4 MOV 3 CLM Pros: Has very high ATP. Skills are quite devastating if you or your enemy isnft prepared. Good VP usage. Has a godly MP skill. Ability to change weapons is nice for characters like Revin. Cons: Poor MGR. Poor PRY. Poor RES. Average if not poor movement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 5. Spellcaster (SPC) In Battle Skills: Earth Attack Type: Magic MP Cost: 16 Range: 5 Effect: Attacks an enemy with Earth property damage. Target Type: 1 hex Ice Attack Type: Magic MP Cost: 16 Range: 5 Effect: Attacks an enemy with Ice/Water property damage. Target Type: 1 hex Fire Attack Type: Magic MP Cost: 16 Range: 5 Effect: Attacks an enemy with Fire property damage. Target Type: 1 hex Wind Attack Type: Magic MP Cost: 16 Range: 5 Effect: Attacks an enemy with Wind property damage. Target Type: 1 hex Passive Skills/Traits: Focuses on SOR. Maneuverability:3 MOV 2 CLM Pros: High MP. High SOR. Devastating spells even against high MGR foes. Can take advantage of enemies who have an elemental weakness. Cons: Horrid MGR for a spell user. All stats besides MP and SOR are generally low if not very poor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 6. Fantastica (FTA) In Battle Skills: Slow Down Attack Type: Debuff MP Cost: 12 Range: 5 Effect: Reduces a targets RES by 50%. Skill 3 Attack Type: Buff MP Cost: 28 Range: 4 Effect: Unknown Target Type: 1 hex Skill 4 Attack Type: Buff MP Cost: 8 Range: 4 Effect: Unknown Target Type: 1 hex Passive Skills/Traits: Can break things like barrels. Can move solid unbreakable objects, like stone pillars. Maneuverability: 4 MOV 3 CLM Pros: Can break things. Can lower RES, which is excellent for missions with turn limits. Their weapon lowers enemy stats. Cons: Defines average in terms of stats. VP is on the low side. The class is pretty useless except for a few things. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 7. Gadgeteer (GDG) In Battle Skills: ~XeCcN Attack Type: Support MP Cost: 20 Range: 2 Effect: Uses an item and spreads the effects amongst the targeted area. Healing items get a 50% boost. (Note: It CAN heal enemies as well, so make sure they arenft in range.) Target Type: 19 hex hexagon. Additional Notes: This skill is best used if you're poor, or if you need a group heal and fast. With this skill you can use one HP/VP recovering item for your entire party, instead of having everyone equipped with one.. Passive Skills/Traits: Healing items get a 50% increase. Can use items on people other than themselves. Can hold more items than any other job. Maneuverability: 4 MOV 3 CLM Pros: Item usage. Original weapon. Cons: The class only has one skill. All stats except VP, ATP, and PRY are average. VP, ATP, and PRY are low. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 8.
