Jump Ultimate Stars

Review by Prottain

"Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball, and more!"

Those who enjoy the mangas/animes listed in the tagline will most definitely enjoy this game! In a 2d fighting game styled after Super Smash Brothers, mixed with specials, supports, and character swapping seen in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, this is a game you should most definitely import and play!

Gameplay: (10/10) This game is a mix of several elements of fighting games. Using characters from Jump, you build decks and fight the enemy in various stages and various ways to win. The stages are based off of the manga/animes as are the characters and their moves. A deck in this game is made up of characters placed on a tile shaped like scene in a manga and you build a deck by piecing together various pieces. For example, you can make one with four characters to battle with, you can have one with one character to battle with and have the rest of the deck full of support characters (characters you can call upon to attack) and help characters (characters that boost your health, heal you gradually, make you jump an extra jump, etc). Fighting is done as stated before in a Super Smash format where you maneuver around on a stage to eliminate your enemy. Specials can be done and they resemble the moves the characters do in their respective manga/animes. In addition, every battle character has a type (three types total) and a weakness triangle is existent as each type will do extra damage to another type but take more damage from the other type left.

Multiplayer: (10/10) Multiplayer allows you to play against people around the world via WiFi. You can exchange deck information as well.

Graphics: (10/10) Graphics are drawn well. The character pieces in your deck look like they have been pulled out of the manga and put into the game. The characters you fight with are drawn well and accurate to their sizes. The top screen displays the fighting while the bottom displays your deck so you can easily access support characters by touching them.

Sound/Music: (10/10) The music is dependent on the stage you are fighting in. If you are in a Naruto stage, you will hear Naruto music. The music is well done so that you feel like you are in combat just like when you watch the anime.

Replay: (10/10) I would definitely replay this game. (In fact I put the game on pause while I decided to type this up). After you beat the game, you won't have enough gems to unlock all the characters in the game so you will need to play certain stages to unlock them. In addition, it is always fun to try out different decks and characters as the game boosts over forty characters (some characters have multiple forms), and much more in support characters and help characters.

Overall: 10/10
