Iron Man
Review by Jacks_on_Crack
"It was just too much"
The movie Iron Man was one of the years best movies and will go down in history as one of the best comic book based movies. The Iron Man game was one of the worst games based on movies/comic books and will either go down in history as just another bad game based on a movie, or it will fade with time, nothing special about it, nothing to remember it by. Or is there?
Gameplay (5/10)
This was one of the most frustrating games I have ever played. Due partly to the bullets and missils being fired at you for 90% of the game. Seriously, it's like the developers sat down and said, what can we do to annoy the gamer as much as possible while incorporating it with the game at the same time. Well, they found a way. You are faced with so many enemies at once that you have almost no time to think about what you're supposed to be doing. Not to mention how repetitive the missions are. You'll find yourself flying over an area and destroying things over and over again. This isn't always bad in games if it is done properly, but it isn't. The flight simulator is confusing at times, and the weapons you are given seem to all do pretty much the same amount of damage on bosses. The gameplay was in fact so bad that I was happy to finish the game. Not because it gave me a sense of accomplishment, but because I was so tired of the game that I strongly wanted to put it down, I was just playing for the achievements. Which kept me into the game for the whole time. If you can stand to play through the game, you are rewarded with an achievement after each level. I would only recommend this game to die hard Iron Man fans who might enjoy stepping into the boots of Tony Stark. Other than that, the gameplay isn't the reason you should pick up this game.
Graphics (7/10)
The graphics aren't horrible, at some points they are good, and at some they are bad. When you're flying high above the levels, the graphics actually don't look too bad. But when you're on the ground, they aren't the greatest. In cutscenes however, they are actually pretty decent. But the reason it got a 7 was because of the graphics of the levels as seen from the sky, which is what you are doing for most of the game. Sadly, the graphics might be the best part of the game.
Replay Value (6/10)
After you finish the game you can go back and do missions that require you to destroy X amount of enemies in X amount of time, that allows you to unlock alternate suits of armor. With the suits, you can upgrade them and use the in the main game, which alters things like your speed and power as well as some other things. But that's all there is to do other than beat the game on a different difficulty level. And I doubt that anybody would like the game enough to want to play it again. Not to mention how difficult it is.
Overall, if you see this game in the store. Just keep walking because it's hardly qualified as a game. I would only recommend picking it up if you're a die hard Iron Man fan or you're looking to get some quick and easy achievements, but don't expect to have much fun while doing so.
