GameCube

"Nintendo does it again!"
To say first that after hearing about the game lineup and the details about the Gamecube before it came out I was extremely excited. Then I started to get a little worried. the X-Box which came out in the same week had a stronger lineup of games and I was afraid that the Gamecube was going to get knocked out of the system ring. I was proved wrong though and the Gamecube sales were very strong to my enjoyment. A factor that went into that to was the Gamecube was 100 dollars cheaper than the other systems. That extra money you could use to buy game and accessories. But know after a while the other systems started to sell more systems and games than the Gamecube. I was worried that Nintendo would get left in the dust to end up like Sega. That was my worst nightmare back then. But with new games that just came out like Zelda Metroid and Mario new hope comes back into Nintendo systems. Now for the review.
Appearance:10
This is one of the highlights of Gamecube. You can chose between Jet Black, Indigo, and Platinum. There are also more colors on the way for the Gamecube. The size is awesome. Smaller by a large fraction than the PS2 and X-Box it is easy to carry and bring along with you to places. it can also fit on the little space on your shelf and is easy to keep taking it out and putting it back away. It is also the lightest system out there. The Gamecube has two memory card slots with four controller ports. Also the function of powering the system is simple so it is easy to get started with it. On the bottom the are 3 modem ports on the bottom for online adapters and other future things for the Gamecube. A small flaw to the outside is that the memory cards sticks out a lot. It will not be anything to a normal gamer but to a clumsy game forgetting they are in there and putting it down on the front can damage it. That's not really anything though but be careful about that.
Features:5
This is the area that the X-Box and Gamecube out sine the Gamecube. The Gamecube can play games and has easy controller and memory card ports but that's about it. Also the Gamecube has more slots at the bottom of it though. The X-Box and PS2 have a DVD player/CD player. The Gamecube does not though. Also the X-Box has a very complex hard drive able to do many things. Like parental block and recording of some things in special game for it. Gamecube has a more basic hard drive but it gets the job done for it's system and games. The Gamecube hard drive although beats the Playstation one though. Having such little features is defiantly not a bad thing. Unlike the Playstation and X-Box the Gamecube puts all of it's power for the games not to make it a DVD or CD player. That leads to one of the reasons the Gamecube games mostly look and perform better.
Graphics:10
These graphic totally out perform the Playstaion 2 graphics in Polygons and detail but it is about the same as X-Box. The X-Box though does out power the Gamecube the Gamecube still produces great graphics even close to the X-Box. The frame rate like all of the other systems is a smooth 60 frames per second in most of its games. The Gamecube can also show lots of action and detail without any slowdown. These graphics are great.
Sound:10
The sound between every system is about the same. The PS2 and X-Box can have a better surround sound system but that costs a lot of money that a lot of people don't have. You can also make the Gamecube sound better with a speaker system but it is also around 500 dollars. The sound alone without anything to enhance it though is still great like all of the other systems.
Technical specs:9
I gave this a nine because although a lot better than the Playstation 2 the X-Box has better technical specs. The Gamecube is still not to far behind the X-Box and the Playstaion 2 is not really far behind the Gamecube. The Gamecube can still perform the best games on the market right now with ease.
Games:10!
This is where the Gamecube really shines in the game cataeory. Nintendo defianaly has the most first party games on the market and they have been known to all be great. With games like Zelda The Wind Waker it sets the standards for a lot of new games coming out. Also Zelda is a game that people are buying the Gamecube for. Also as a preorder bonus for Wind Waker you can now play Ocarina of Time on the Gamecube. On of the best Nintendo 64 games. Games like Metroid are out to and live up to the series great games. Old classics like Mario are back with a whole new great look. As for third party games the Gamecube has a lot of great ones. Like Tony Hawk, Medal of Honor, Madden, and all of the Star Wars games are looking great. The games for Playstation 2 and X-Box are ok but don't come close to Nintendo's new first party games. The upcoming games are also looking great to like all new sequels of the great games.
Peripherals and controllers:10
The Gamecube controller in my opinion is the best and most comfortable controller ever. The button layout is nice and spread out and easy to use the buttons. The shape of the controller fits perfectly into your hand unlike the X-Box contoller which so big it is hard to hold right. The controller is nice and small and easy to get used to very fast. If you just do not like the Gamecube controller you can buy an adapter which allows you to use a Playstation controller on the Gamecube. The memory card is a nice shape but that's about all of the good thing about it. The memory on the card is small and microscopic compared to the X-Box and Playstaion 2 cards. You will need a few memory cards to be able to save your games if you have a lot of them. Nintendo also made a memory card which has four times more memory than the original one. the new on is even only four dollars more than the old one. That's a great deal if you need a lot of space for your games. Another great feature of the Gamecube is the wire that lets you connect your Gameboy Advance to your Gamecube. It only works on select games but there are more coming out that allow you to do it. Those games include Zelda The Wind Waker!
Overall:10
Overall the Gamecube in my opinion the Gamecube is the best system out on the market with the best games for any system. I hope my review made you consider the Gamecube for a video game system to buy and you won't be sorry. I surely was not.
