If you discover a major error in this FAQ, would like to submit a strategy that
isn't included in here, or have a question about the game that isn't answered
in this FAQ, you can e-mail me at the following adress:

  TheoW7@cs.com

Of course, there are some restrictions on e-mailing me:

  - Don't send me SPAM
  - Make sure the subject line is recognizable. Weird topics will not be read
    and deleted immediately.
  - E-mails with questions that are answered (or soon will be) in the FAQ will
    not be replied to.
  - Don't ask for cheats or any other strategies: all tactics I know are in
    this FAQ
  - If you have negative things to say about this FAQ you can always send them
to me, as long as the mails remain polite and have a normal topic. I'll
rewrite some parts of the FAQ if I have to, and credit the one who has
located the error in the Credits section.

Original strategies will be gladly accepted. They will be put in the FAQ with
the next update, with proper credit given to the one who mailed it. E-mails
without a specific name (nick or real) will be credit by the first part of
the e-mail address. For example, "TheoW7@cs.com" would be credited as TheoW7.
Just remember that e-mails probably won't be replied to the first day
afterwards. I still have lots of things to do for myself and I won't be able
to read my mail every day.

 1. The Author
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

This is only my second FAQ and not so comprehensive as my last one. This guide
was translated from Dutch so it won't be without any grammar/spelling errors or
half-Dutch words. I try to avoid making a lot of them, but an error-free text
is never guaranteed.

This guide contains info on the game "Legends of Wrestling" for XBox, and it
may very well spoil some secrets of the game. Thus, be warned. I cannot say
this is a real walkthrough but it has some hints and tips that can help people
to win fights more easily.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 2. The Game
=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Legends of Wrestling is a game by Acclaim Entertainment, a game that makes us
long back to the times of old. No "The Rock", no "Y2J" or "Ultimo Dragon", but
the real wrestling stars like Hulk Hogan, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Bret "Hitman"
Hart, and many more.

With these, you can play all kinds of matches, ranging from normal matches to
rings filled with eight wrestlers! You can also start a career with one of
those wrestlers or... take your own self-made wrestler to the top! This game
has dozens of options to create your own professional wrestler. For all the
game types, see the next section.

=-=-=-=-=-=
 3. Cheats
=-=-=-=-=-=

The only cheat currently known in Legends of Wrestling is the code to unlock
all of the wrestlers instead of unlocking them all separately. In the Main
Menu, press:

UP; UP; DOWN; DOWN; LEFT; RIGHT; LEFT; RIGHT; Y; Y; X

   \ V. Game Types \
    o---------------o

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 1. Exhibition
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

An exhibition is a fight for fun. You can choose one of the many game types and
quickly step into the ring with the wrestler of your choice. The type of arena
can be selected as well. You may even choose one of the wrestlers to act as a
referee throughout the fight, or play as one yourself! The following types of
wrestling are available:

  Versus
  -------
Play a normal one-on-one match, against the computer or another player. Once
this is selected, a screen is viewed in which you may choose control of one
of the two teams, or the referee. Next, select the participating wrestlers
  and step into the ring.

  3 Way Dance
  ------------
Time for a bit of backstabbing, then. This is exactly the same type as versus
only this time with three wrestlers, meaning that you can secretly grab hold
of a weapon while the other two are beating each other up. You can select all
the wrestlers and the referee, then get ready for a fight.

  4 Way Dance
  ------------
Whoa, the ring is getting a bit full with all these wrestlers fighting each
other at one time. Be ready to be ganged upon by your opponents, and may the
most mean wrestler win the match. Again, select all the wrestlers and
eventually the referee, and step into the ring.

  Tag Team
  ---------
In the Tag Team mode, you can select two wrestlers to be one one team. Then,
they battle another team. The camera might get a bit irritating in these
kinds of fight, but that doesn't decrease the fun rate. You can ask partners
for help in this mode by pressing Down on the Directional Pad. What do you
think will happen when four tag teams do this at one time? :) You can choose
to play with two, three or four teams at once.

  Arena
  ------
Select the arena of your choice here, nothing special really. You can choose
  the following rings:

    - Pacific - Northeast
    - Midwest - Southeast
    - Southwest - International Center
    - World - Iguana Hotel & Casino
    - Backlot - Acevedo Beach Resort
    - Faber Gymnasium - America Dome

=-=-=-=-=-=
 2. Career
=-=-=-=-=-=

Choose a wrestler, existing or your own, and lead him through dozens of fights
making him the Heavyweight Champion of the World. All aspects of the Career
Mode are handled in the "Career" section (VI).

=-=-=-=-=-=
 3. Create
=-=-=-=-=-=

This is the mode for creating your own legends of wrestling. Choose to create
a male or a female by selecting the appropriate option. You can use "legend"
to view and edit the already existing legends. "Edit" is for already created
or edit legends which are on your XBox's hard disk. See the "Create A Legend"
section for more information (IX).

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 4. Tournament
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

This is a tournament with multiple participating wrestlers. There are several
options to choose from when playing a tournament, the game modes stated
below:

  Versus
  -------
All wrestlers are on their own, you can choose how many will participate
in the tournament. The battles take place like normal versus battles, and
the wrestler with the most points in the end is the winner. When there
are equal amounts of points for two wrestlers, those two will participate
in a final match: the winner is also victorious in the tournament.

  Tag Team
  ---------
Works in exactly the same way as Versus, but now with tag teams. You can
choose how many teams will participate and how many rounds you would
like to have against each team. The team with the most points at the end
of the tournament wins. Teams with equal amounts of points will compete
in a final match that decides the outcome of the tournament.

  Tag Belt
  ---------
This is just a Tag Team tournament with preset conditions. There are six
teams, which all compete for the tag team title in three rounds against
  every other team.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 5. Options
=-=-=-=-=-=-=

In this screen, you can change the game's default options to your likings. Most
of the options are self-explanatory, but there are a few that need some extra
clarification.

"Save" and "Load" can be used to save current options or load previously
saved options. You can turn the managers that accompany the wrestlers during
the game ON or OFF. Disabling the entrances wrestlers make is also an option.
The setting TKO determines if you can win by knocking your opponent out. If
disabled, the only way to win is through a pinfall or submission. With the
"playlists" you can change the music in the game to any music you currently
have on your XBox hard disk.

   \ VI. Career \
    o------------o

The Career mode is a special mode in which you can take one of the already
existing wrestlers, or one you created yourself, to the top in a dazzling lot
of fights. You must gain popularity in each region, challenge each territory's
champion to win the belt, then defend it against another wrestler.

During a Career, you get help from one of the two available managers in the
game, depending on the matter if your character is LOVED or HATED. If he is
LOVED, you get "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart as a manager. If your
wrestler is hated, you get "Captain" Lou Albano. This is important as you
will unlock your used manager to wrestle with once you complete the career.
Here's a list of which wrestlers are LOVED and which are HATED.

  -------------------------------------------------------------
  LOVED | HATED
  --------------------------------|----------------------------
Hulk Hogan | The Iron Sheik
Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka | Mr. Fuji
Road Warrior Hawk | Don Muraco
Road Warrior Animal | Nikolai Volkoff
Bret "Hitman" Hart | Ted DiBiase
Terry Funk | King Kong Bundy
Jerry "The King" Lawler | One Man Gang
George "The Animal" Steele | Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
"Mr. USA" Tony Atlas | Harley Race
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat | "Superstar" Billy Graham
Tito Santana | "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert
Koko B. Ware | Ivan Koloff
  Ricky Morton | The Sheik
  Robert Gibson | Sabu
"Flyin'" Brian Pillman | "Captain" Lou Albano
  Rick Martel |
  Ivan Putski |
  "Cowboy" Bob Orton |
  Kerry Von Erich |
  Fritz Von Erich |
  Kevin Von Erich |
  Michael Von Erich |
  David Von Erich |
  Dory Funk Jr. |
  Rob Van Dam |
"Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart |
  -------------------------------------------------------------

Once you have chosen the wrestler you wish to enter a career with, a screen is
viewed showing the map of the USA, divided into five different regions. Each
region has a champion with the belt of that territory. You need to get all of
those belts from all of the champions. The following regions are available:

  ---------------------------------------
  REGION CHAMPION
  ---------------------------------------
  Pacific    => Bret "Hitman" Hart
  Midwest    => Hulk Hogan
  Southwest  => Road Warrior Hawk
  Southeast  => "Flyin'" Brian Pillman
  Northeast  => "Superstar" Billy Graham
  ---------------------------------------

It doesn't really matter in which region you start, it is the same story each
time: gather enough popularity to challenge the champion, win the belt and
defend it once against another wrestler.

  Popularity
  -----------
You'll have to be popular amongst the crowd to challenge the champion, and
to do this you'll have to make your matches as exiting as possible. To see
how exciting your match is, you can watch the big "Match Excitement" meter
in the top of the screen. The more exciting the match, the more popularity
you will gain. There are several ways to increase the excitement meter.

You'll know when you've increased excitement once you see a red icon in the
left of the screen with some text in it. Each one will increase the meter
by a specific amount. Notice that once you have won several belts, the meter
will fill up slower than when you just began wrestling as a rookie. The ways
  to fill up the meter:

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extreme Damage => Often gained through combos. To get it, simply make a move
or a combo that saps a lot of damage, like the following
combo: "Chin Crusher >> Kick to Groin".
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
High Spot Bonus => I'm not exactly sure about this, but I think you get this
once you hit an opponent at a sensitive spot, like his
head, groin, or weak joint. Could anyone confirm that?
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bloody Match => Watch out! This can only be obtained when the "Blood"
option is set ON in the Options Menu. Hit your opponent
with a few hard blows on the face and he will start to
                     bleed, giving you this bonus.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Move Variety => Obtained once you make about twelve different moves.
Reversals don't count as different moves.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reversal Bonus => Given when you make three reversals. Might be hard on the
easy difficulty because enemies won't counter you often,
but shouldn't be a problem from Mid Card on.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combo Bonus => Gained by pulling off combos (press the right button in
time during some moves). Three will give you the bonus.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ref Bump => Easy to get, and the crowd loves it. Just run into the ref
to hit him to the ground and you'll have this one.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weapon Attack => Just grab hold of a weapon or other object to beat up your
                     opponent with and hit once.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finisher => Every wrestler in the game has one (check the Wrestler
List section to see them). Just pull them off once your
Finisher meter is blinking and you'll get this.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2-on-1 Move => Only available for 3 or 4 Way Dances. It's hard to get and
you need to be lucky. When you grapple an opponent at
exactly the same time as another wrestler you'll make a
                     2-on-1 Move, obtaining the bonus.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
BreakUp Pinfall => Just stomp one of two wrestlers who are pinning or
or Submission hurting each other to get it. Only for 3 or 4 Way Dances.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Knockout => The crowd loves it when somebody gets knocked out of
consciousness. Keep hammering your opponent until far
beyond his red bar and you will knock him out.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequent Tags => When you change wrestlers a lot in Tag Matches, you can
get this bonus. Watch out, however, it won't work if you
just keep tagging each other without hurting opponents
                     with the new wrestler first.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheating => Only available in Tag matches, you can get this bonus by
knocking down the ref while your partner's in the ring. If
you succeed, your partner can stay in longer, gaining you
                     this bonus.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victory => You get this after the match, and only if you win it. It
will give you an extra boost in match excitement
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Domination => In matches with more than two wrestlers, you can get this
by dominating all opponents, thus disposing of everybody
as efficient as possible and without taking major damage.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall High => In 3 or 4 Way Dances/Tag Team you can get this. It means
Damage inflicting a lot of damage with each move you make, so no
                     simple strikes.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I might have forgotten a few of them, but I'm sure most are listed above.
Of course, there are also things that can decrease the match excitement, thus
lowering your popularity increase. These have to be avoided. They are:

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Repetitive Moves => During the match, you may get this because of repeatedly
using the same move, like five of the same strikes right
after each other. Mix up your moves to avoid it.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minimal Combos => After the match, this can lower your excitement, any time
you didn't get the Combo Bonus in a fight. So, make sure
that you get it each time and you won't have to worry.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stalling => In 3 or 4 Way Dances, you should be fighting all the
time, only grabbing a brief pause when you need a nice
weapon. If you don't do this, you will get this negative
                      reaction from the crowd.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Neglected Tag => This can only happen after a Tag Team match. Gained when
Partner you haven't given your partner a chance to fight. Just
tag your partner once, let him fight a minute and tag
                      back.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Defeat => Just like you get positive reactions from the crowd if
you emerge victorious from a fight, so will a defeat
affect your match excitement, only now in a negative way.
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's about it for popularity. At the end of each match, your exitement
meter is viewed and while it is emptied the popularity meter on the right
side of the screen increases. Once you've collected 100% Popularity, you get
a shot at beating the champion of the region.

  The Gym
  --------
At certain points in your career your manager will point out you'll have to
go to the gym to train. That's not an insult, it's only good for you. When
playing a normal wrestler, you cannot improve your attributes or abilities,
but you can get new moves with move keys.

If you are playing a self-made legend, the fun's just about to start. Even
though they start out far more weak than the normal wrestlers, they'll be
about 33% more powerful at the end of the career. That's because you can
actually spend the attribute and ability points you unlock throughout the
  career in the Create-A-Legend screen.

  Belts
  ------
A fight against the champion is always one-on-one. Champions are usually a
bit tougher than the normal fights you had in the region but not by much. To
emerge victorious, you'll have to control your wrestling skills. When you
beat a champion, you gain the belt of the current territory.

Of course, you are not the only one longing to hold the belt. So when you
have won it, you will have to defend it once against another wrestler in a
new belt match. Only this time you're the champion. Losing means losing the
belt, so don't let that happen. The belt system works like this:

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pacific Belt Midwest Belt Southwest Belt Northeast Belt Southeast Belt
         | | | | |
         |______________|______________|_______________|_______________|
                                       |

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you have collected each territory's belt, they will be united into a
single USA Belt. You'll have to defend this one some more times than the
normal belts. Thereafter, you are allowed to participate in the International
Heavyweight Championship. You will have to gather popularity throughout the
world and then face the current Heavyweight Champion: Rob Van Dam. If you win
it, you'll have to defend it on several occasions again.

When you're finally done, you'll get some info on the wrestler you have taken
to the top, or you get congratulations on making one of your own CAL's a
legend of wrestling. Completing careers with some wrestlers will unlock new
  wrestlers for you to use.

 2. Brawling
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
When the match first begins, all wrestlers are on opposite sides of the ring,
and you'll need to get to them and blow them away with punches, kicks and throw
moves first. The brawling moves are very simple:

  - Execute a punch or a kick with the X Button. Normal X is a simple strikes,
moving the Left Thumbstick LEFT or RIGHT together with X results in a
medium strike and finally moving the LThumbstick UP or DOWN together with
X results in a strong strike. These differ per wrestler.
  - Up close you can use one of your Ready Moves with the Y button. Those are
throw moves that you can use without grappling your opponent first, and
are often very comboable. These can be used in combination with the Left
Thumbstick as well, resulting a three different moves per wrestler. Not
all characters have three Ready Moves.
  - Press X, Y, or B while running and your wrestler will execute his Running
Move, like a Clothesline. You can also try to intercept a running opponent
with X, Y, or B by using your anti-running strike.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 3. Grappling & ISP
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Once wrestlers are close to each other, they can grapple each other with the B
Button. The one who was first to grapple also gets the first opportunity to
make a move. The moves in Legends of Wrestling are defined by the ISP, or long
the Intermediate Start Position. Sounds difficult, is simple. When you've
grappled your opponent you can take him into different positions to make a
move from. You can do four ISP's in front and three in a behind grapple (I
don't count holding your opponent as an ISP).

To make things a bit more clear:
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                  |-----> X -- Vertical Suplex   --> X/Y/B/A
                  |
                  |
                  |-----> Y -- Scoop Slam        --> X/Y/B/A
                  |
Front Grapple ====|
                  |-----> B -- Head Between Legs --> X/Y/B/A
                  |
                  |
                  |-----> A -- Belly To Belly    --> X/Y/B/A
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
                  |-----> X -- Gutwrench         --> X/Y/B/A
                  |
                  |
                  |-----> Y -- Samoan Drop       --> X/Y/B/A
                  |
Behind Grapple ===|
                  |-----> B -- Full Nelson       --> X/Y/B/A
                  |
                  |
                  |-----> A -- Hold Opponent
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The button pressed once in the ISP position determines which move your wrestler
will make. For example, when you have an opponent in the Head Between Legs
position and he cannot counter you, pressing X or nothing might mean doing a
Sit-Out Powerbomb, while pressing Y makes him execute an Underhook Piledriver.

You can do more things once you've grappled your opponent. Pressing the WHITE
button throws your opponent to the ground, breaking up the Tie-Up. You can also
break the grapple with the Right Trigger. Finally, you can whip your opponent
into the ropes or fencing with the BLACK button. You can hold the Left
Thumbstick into the specific direction you want to whip your opponent in.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 4. Ground Fighting
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Of course, wrestler do not remain standing the entire match. Half of it will
take place on the ground when you or your opponent is knocked down. You have
several options with ground fighting:

  - Pressing the X Button stomps your opponent while he's on the ground,
    decreasing his health.
  - Pressing the Y Button gives you several options. Doing it while standing
at your opponents head while he's on his back will give you a Choke ISP,
doing it at his belly gives you the Mount ISP and at his legs makes you
put yourself in the Hold Legs ISP. From these, you can then order specific
moves to be executed. This only applies for opponents who lie on their
    backs.
  - When opponents are on their belly, you can use the Y Button to order
wrestler-specific moves, but you won't get an ISP.
  - Pressing the B Button makes your wrestler lift the opponent up, so he's
standing again. Perfect when he's dizzy and you need to do a finisher
    that requires a grapple quickly.
  - Pressing the A Button will pin the opponent. If the opposition is weak
enough, you may be able to hold them down for three seconds, winning
    the match.
  - When other wrestlers are in a submission or a pinfall you can kick them
out of it with the X Button. If that doesn't work, try shifting your
attention to the second opponent on the ground. The one that is doing
the pin or submission should be your target.

 5. Combos & Reversals
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Two of the keys to winning a game in Legends of Wrestling are combos and
reversals. They are done in exactly the same way, although they don't have
the same effect.

  Combos
  -------
A lot of moves can be chained together into a combo. To see them all, look
at the "Moves & Combo List" section (X). These can cause extreme damage to
your opponent or immediately pin him after a succesful throw. As you might
have noticed, combos are key to winning games.

To succesfully execute a combo, you'll have to use a move that can be comboed
into something else. To practice, you might want to start with an easier move
to combo. A good one would be a Falling Chokeslam (Ready Move). Once you
start it, a bar appears under your health and finisher meter. I'll call this
the Combo Bar for now. It consists of a red part, a green part, and a cursor
that moves from left to right. To combo a move, you'll have to press one of
the buttons that is viewed near that bar when the cursor moves through the
green area. The speed and amount of green area differs per move.

With the Falling Chokeslam, you'll have to press the A Button or the X Button
in time to succesfully combo the move. Usually, A means pinning an opponent
directly after a move. X means that you get into a Ground position (Choke,
Mount, or Hold Legs) to beat your opponent up further.

  Reversals
  ----------
To prevent needless damage done to you from an opponent's grapple, you can
make use of Reversals. Every grapple move can be reversed into your or your
opponent's favor. The trick is to keep up reversing moves until the opponent
misses a reversal. The move will be yours.

Like with combos, you'll have to stop the cursor with the A button while it's
in the green area of the Combo Bar. The more reversals you make in one
grapple, the harder this gets. The green area will become smaller and the
cursor will move faster. Here's a list with reversals that you can use to
see which position you will be in when you have reversed a specific move.

  -------------------------------------------------
  REVERSED NEW POSITION
  -------------------------------------------------
  Vertical Suplex Tie-Up
  Scoop Slam Gutwrench
  Head Between Legs Normal
  Belly To Belly Normal
  Gutwrench Gutwrench
  Samoan Drop Normal
  Full Nelson Normal
  Whip Whip Opponent
  -------------------------------------------------

Reversing moves can increase your chances of winning by much. It also helps
getting the "Domination" excitement increase in 3 or 4 Way Dances. Whoever
makes the reversal may then execute the next ISP attack when you're still
  grappling each other.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 6. Turnbuckles & Planchas
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
These are high-risk moves that can only be done by specific wrestlers. They
often do huge amounts of damage, but if you miss you will hurt yourself, so
remember that.

  Turnbuckles
  ------------
When your opponent stands or lies near a corner of the ring, some wrestlers
can go for a turnbuckle attack. It works best on dizzied opponents, because
normal opponents will just run out of the way, making you hurt yourself.

To execute a turnbuckle attack, put your wrestler in the corner you wish and
press X, Y, or B while holding the Left Thumbstick toward the turnbuckle. If
done right, your wrestler should climb it and fire a deadly attack on your
opponent. Note that not all wrestlers can do these kinds of attacks.

  Aprons
  -------
Aprons are slightly more easy to do as Turnbuckles, IMO. Executing an apron
means your wrestler will jump of the ropes to hurt your opponent in all kinds
of ways. They can hit an opponent while he's standing as well as on the
ground. You can still hurt yourself if you miss, though.

To do an Apron, make sure your opponent is somewhere near the ropes. Then
stand near the ropes yourself. Press X, Y, or B to execute an apron and blow
your opponent away. You can also, while on the edge of the ring, press Y
to make your wrestler fire himself into the ring with a well-timed kick or
lariat. Note that not all wrestlers can do these kinds of attacks.

=-=-=-=-=-=
 7. Weapons
=-=-=-=-=-=
There are always some nice objects you can find under the ring... chairs, metal
plates, thrash cans, etc. Try using it to knock your opponent down, and you
might find yourself doing an enormous amount of damage.

To pick up a weapon, press UP while near one. If there aren't any in or out of
the ring, you can stand outside near the ring and press UP on the Directional
Pad. Your character will grab a new weapon from under the ring. You can attack
with weapons in several ways.

  - Pressing X will make your character to do a simple strike with his weapon,
knocking the opponent down and doing damage. You can only do four attacks
in a row before the weapon dissipates into thin air.
  - Pressing B will throw the weapon towards your opponent. It can be evaded,
but is very useful for stopping running enemies.
  - Pressing Y will use the wrestler-specific weapon attack. These are special
attacks that a wrestler can do with some types of weapons. For example,
Terry Funk has the Triple Can Hit, and he can execute it while near an
opponent with the Y Button. However, using Y with an other weapon like
a sword won't have any effect.
  - Pressing A makes your wrestler drop the weapon he's currently holding.

Notice that once you're hit, your weapon will fall to the ground and you'll
have to pick it up again. You can only do a normal strike four times in a row,
but you can do Special Attacks as much as you want. After each special, the
weapon will fall to the floor as well.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 8. Finishers
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Whenever the Finisher Meter (the purple meter around your health bar) is
blinking, you have a limited of time wherein you can use your Finisher. This
is kind of that wrestler's "Ultra Signature Move", the moves they got famous
with and which do a heck a lot of damage. Think of Hulk Hogan's Running Leg
Drop or the Hitman's Sharpshooter. Look at the "Wrestler List" section (VIII)
to see each wrestler's finisher.

To pull a finisher off, your meter HAS to be blinking. You only have limited
time, so do it as fast as you can. The best chance you have is when your
opponent is dizzy: other wrestlers will get dizzy quite quickly when your
meter is blinking so it won't be much of a problem. Then get the opponent
into the right ISP or position. For Bret "Hitman" Hart's Sharpshooter, for
example, you'll have to be in the Hold Legs ISP to pull it off.

Once the needed position is acquired, just move around the Right Thumbstick
to do a Finisher. Finishers in the game are fairly powerful and in career
mode help build up Match Excitement.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 9. Tips on Battles
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

- In one-on-one battles, the computer will often run at your corner from the
start. This is perfect to do an anti-running attack for some cheap early
  damage.

- If your opponent has a weapon, running into him to knock it away is a good
  way to disarm him.

- Do not underestimate the power of Finishers. They can easily do three times
as much damage as a normal attack. Pull one off whenever your meter is full.

- Play as mean as you can and without mercy. Hit them everywhere you can. Do
not show them mercy, for you will receive none yourself.

- In order to keep a pin or a submission going, you have to press X as fast as
you can. This increases the chance of a win by pinfall and maximizes the
  damage from a submission.

- Whenever you are dizzy, tap X quickly to recover in less time.

- With the WHITE Button, you can throw an opponent into the ropes, so he hangs
there for a while (only when he's dizzy). Press Y while near him to make
your wrestler execute a nice lariat, sending your opponent flying over the
ropes out of the ring. You can follow this up closely with an Apron. The
same applies for throwing opponents into corners.

- Hit opponents as they get up from the floor. They won't have a chance to
reverse your strike. Drop Kick is a good move for this.

- Players on the edge of the ring (outside of the ropes), like a tag partner
of an opponent, can be knocked off with your Strong Strike (X+UP/DOWN) or by
grabbing them with B. Then you can use X to do a Brainbuster to the inside/
outside of the ring; Y to do a wrestler-specific move; and B to do a funny
  face-to-rope knockback.

- When an opponent is dizzy in a corner, press B while near him to put him on
the turnbuckle. You can get the Tree of Woe in just about exactly the same
way. When near a turnbuckle, grapple your opponent and turn them around with
the left trigge, then smash them into the turnbuckle. They'll have to be
dizzy now. When near him, press B again to put him into the Tree of Woe.

- To let go of a pin or submission, simply pull the Right Trigger.

  =============================================================================

The Hulkster is definitely one of the strongest characters in the game, though
he lacks a lot in the speed and especially the mat skills area. This means that
you will have to rely on ready moves most of the time to do damage. However,
his high Charisma rating makes that you can go for grapple moves as well in the
later game when you have acquired lots of bonuses already. Otherwise, try not
to be grappled a lot, because Hogan's reversal and combo abilities really
aren't anything to brag about.

FINISHER: Running Leg Drop
Your opponent should be down on belly or back. Run towards him and
move the Right Thumbstick at the right time to hit with your
          finisher.

The Superfly is pretty much an all-rounded wrestler, with mat skills being his
worst attribute. Thus, you should prevent grappling a lot, even though he has
ability for it. His affinity for planchas and turnbuckles should be used
whenever you have the chance. Make that nick, "Superfly", true, and you should
be able to inflict major damage on your opponents. Thereby, he's pretty tough,
so he can take quite a few plancha misses. Running strikes are pretty normal
for him too.

FINISHER: Superfly Leap
Your opponent should be down near a turnbuckle and dizzy. Move Snuka
near the turnbuckle and move the Left Thumbstick towards it while
rotating the Right Thumbstick. He should climb and do the Superfly
          Leap, his finisher.

This is one of the Road Warriors, Hawk being the most athletic one. He's an all
rounded wrestler as well, though he should be careful in grappling opponents
who have better mat skills than him. He has a good strength and toughness, and
his good ability for Brawling make him a good character when it comes to taking
and dealing hits. He has a pretty good combo ability (Chin Crusher) and he's
able to surprise some enemies with Aprons or Turnbuckles as well.

FINISHER: Jumping Lariat
Your opponent should be dizzy and standing near a turnbuckle. Move
Hawk towards the turnbuckle so he stands right in front of it. Then
put the Left Thumbstick in the turnbuckle's direction and rotate the
          Right Thumbstick.

The second and last one of the Road Warriors. Animal is not as fast as Hawk,
nor does he equal him in charisma. However, Animal's strength his huge and his
toughness a force to be reckoned with. Even though he has low mat skills, I
recommend grappling often with Animal. In grapples lie his many combo abilities
which he should use to the max. He's also good for dealing punches to your
opponent.

FINISHER: Powerslam
First, make sure your opponent is running toward you. You could whip
him into the ropes for this or just take a distance so he is running
to you by himself. Just keep moving the Right Thumbstick to do the
          Finisher.

"The best there was, the best there is, and the best there will ever be"...
well not in this game. The Hitman is pretty all-rounded, but his supreme
attribute is definitely mat skills. Unfortunately, his moves don't maximize his
efficiency when it comes to combos. He has no combo ability in his ready moves,
and too little in his tie-up throws for one with his skills. On the other hand,
he has good submission abilities which, together with his Technical ability,
should be used often.

FINISHER: Sharpshooter
Your opponent should be down on his back. Now, move to his feet and
press Y, so you get into the Hold Legs ISP. Move the Right Thumbstick
to execute the finisher, the Sharpshooter submission.
(Ground Back Y at feet; RThumb)

Well, the Iron Sheik is just about as all-rounded as it gets, with only a small
lack in speed and an above average toughness. You could go any way you want
with him, but I recommend cheating the ref often to beat up your opponent. He
has a nice combo ability in his tie-ups, although he doesn't possess combos in
ready moves. Seeing his abilities, beating down your opponent and then use
damaging moves like Kick to Groin might also work well.

FINISHER: Camel Clutch
This one needs an opponent on the floor, on his belly. Stand by his
head and move the Right Thumbstick to execute the Camel Clutch.

Mr. Fuji here is one of the wrestlers you'll have to unlock. To do this, beat
the "Tag Belt" Tournament with any character. This character is focused mostly
on cheating and weapon attacks, so use them often. One thing you absolutely
shouldn't do is brawling, because this former manager can't take or deal hits
very well. He needs some practise to get used to, especially because of his
little combo abilities. When you wrestle with him a lot, however, he can be a
lot of fun.

FINISHER: Banzai Drop
Your opponent should be on the ground and dizzy, inside the ring, and
near a turnbuckle. Move Mr. Fuji near the Turnbuckle and while
holding the Left Thumbstick in the direction of the turnbuckle, move
the Right Thumbstick to execute a Banzai Drop.
          (RThumb+LThumb in direction of turnbuckle)

The Funkster is tough... very tough. And since he has a good brawling ability
it should be obvious what to do with him. Deal hits and take them. Because of
his maxed out toughness you can also do some grappling, although his mat
skills certainly aren't the best. His combo ability is minimal. Fortunately,
he can do aprons or turnbuckles. Terry Funk should grab weapons a lot.

FINISHER: Spinning Toe Hold
Your opponent has to be down on his back. Press Y at his feets to get
into the Hold Legs ISP, and then move the Right Thumbstick to do the
          Spinning Toe Hold.

Don Muraco is very much an old-fashioned wrestler: brawling and grappling
instead of weapons, aprons, or turnbuckles. Taking and dealing hits with him
is very effective, and so is grappling, although his mat skills aren't really
the best. He has a very-easy-to-combo move in his repertoire, the Falling
Chokeslam. Otherwise, his combo abilities are average. Stick close to your
opponent and keep brawling and grappling.

FINISHER: Muraco Hammer
This finisher must be done from the Belly to Belly ISP. To get this,
move to your opponent and grapple him with B. Then press A to get the
ISP. Next, move the Right Thumbstick to execute the Muraco Hammer.

Another all-rounded wrestler, Jerry Lawler has a small lack in recovery and a
small surplus in charisma. That means that you should get the crowd behind you
to improve your stats further. He has good abilities for brawling or grappling,
so you can deal damage very well. Only make sure not to get hit a lot, because
recovery is The King's weak point. Cheating mostly works well in Tag Matches
to call to partners more often.

FINISHER: Fall Back Pile Driver
To do this finisher, first get your opponent caught up in a grapple,
then press B to get to the Head Between Legs ISP. After that, move
the Right Thumbstick to get The King's Fall Back Pile Driver.

Our Animal here has is own unique stance... Wow. Anyway, he ain't bad in the
ring. I actually found him one of the most fun wrestlers to use. He's all about
brawling, with weapons or without them. His good combo abilities in his tie-ups
are worth the loss in mat skills. He can also combo one of his ready moves, the
Sit Out Chokeslam. Keep dealing hits and grab weapons when you can and you
should be able to win most fights fairly quickly.

FINISHER: Flying Hammerlock
For this, you need the Full Nelson ISP. Get in a behind grapple, or
do a front grapple and press the Left Trigger to turn him around. To
get to the Full Nelson, press B another time. Next, move the Right
          Thumbstick to execute the submission.

  =============================================================================

Tony Atlas is a brawling-focused wrestler. He can take hits and can deal them
as well because of his good toughness and strength. His abilities range from
brawling to corners, but in not one of his ability he is truly exceptional. No
weapons with this guy, just plain knocking down and eventually a turnbuckle or
an apron. He doesn't have a lot of combo abilities, but seeing his mat skills
this doesn't really matter. Brawl, brawl, brawl...

FINISHER: Gorilla Press Slam
This is a normal ready move, so just get in front of your opponent
and close enough to make contact with the throw. Move the Right
Thumbstick to do the Gorilla Press Slam.
          (Near opponent RThumb)

The Dragon should definitely be handled as a High Flyer. That means making use
of turnbuckles and aprons often. His speed should ease this up a bit, and so
will it help evading hits. You'll need to avoid to trade hits with this one or
you will be KO in no-time. His submission abilities are pretty good and have
high priority when your opponents are on the ground. Unfortunately, Steamboat's
combo ability is pretty much miserable when it comes to dealing damage, and
that when we finally have someone with good mat skills... perhaps Acclaim made
a mistake here.

FINISHER: Crossbody
Your opponent should be dizzy, but still standing up right near a
turnbuckle. Hold the Left Thumbstick in the direction of the post
and move the Right Thumbstick to do a Crossbody.
          (RThumb+LThumb in direction of turnbuckle)
