================MESSAGE OF IMPORTANCE================
I am now hosting a Sonic-based blog, titled Blue Sphere which you can find at
the following address:

http://missinghead.blogspot.com

Hopefully this will let me keep you posted on Sonic news without having to
update this monster every time. Don't worry, I'm still updating this guide as
much as ever, the blog doesn't change that at all.

I used missinghead as the url because missingmyhead, mmh, and bluesphere were
all taken. Who knew? (what really irks me is that mmh is a test website,
bluesphere has no posts, and missingmhead is completely blank >8U)

And if you're going to accuse me of ripping off spacepope4u, I recommend you
read the first post. It clears all that up.

FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS IN A SONIC GAME, GO AWAY!!!

Version History [VHS]

1.0
Just baaaaaaaaaaaaarely started, and I've got a long way to go...All I have
is the games masterlist.
-04/05/06

1.1
Today I start on the characters! Whoopee!
-04/06/06

1.2
I'm gonna get some more characters in today.
-04/07/06

1.3
Alright, more characters!
-04/07/06 (yes, yes, same day)

1.4
This is starting to get redundant...more characters
-04/08/06

1.5
Well, update 1.4 was pretty huge, and I finally got all the major
characters and a ton of minor characters, but I've got a long way to go.
I'm adding some more minor characters, mostly bosses.
-04/09/06

1.6
Haven't had an update for awhile, huh? Well, it's a few more minor
characters again. I added three obscure E-10000s and the Babylon Guardian.
I'll add some more generic enemies later.
-4/17/06

1.7
I'm adding some generic enemies (Common enemies that aren't characters in
their own right).
-4/18/06

1.8
I'm adding more enemies, Guard Robo, and a new scrapped character (Like
Honey and Tiara Boobowski) named Madonna.
04/19/06

1.9
I came into this update expecting it to be a minor one, but I ended up
finding a TON of characters and I couldn't stop! This is one huge update!
04/21/06

2.0
I'm adding a couple more obscure characters. I also fixed Gemerl's name
and moved it accordingly.
??/??/?? (Forgot to add the date. Shame on me!)

2.1
A few more characters.
05/03/06

2.2
I'm adding the FAQ now.
05/03/06 (Deja vu...)

2.3
Three more characters from Sonic Riders.
05/05/06

2.4
I'm adding two more characters and fixing the game list.
05/10/06

2.5
I just found out about an upcoming Sonic game for the PSP, so I'm adding
that to the Games Masterlist.
05/11/06

2.6
I'm just adding Hyper Knuckles and making a slight change to Illumina
Flowlight this time.
05/12/06

2.7
Found out about another upcoming character, so I'm adding her.
05/14/06

2.8
I added Mecha Sonic, Super Mecha Sonic, and Super Metal Sonic. I also
added the Thanks section and added a new question to the FAQ.
05/17/06

2.9
It's technically the same day as update 2.8, but I'm doing this at 11am,
while 2.8 was at 1am. O_o I'm adding more Sonic robots. Amazing how many
there are. There are also a few others, but I'm mainly focused on Sonic
Robots.
05/17/06

3.0
I'm finally getting back to the generic enemies again.
05/18/06

3.1
A big update with a huge focus on the original Badniks, instead of the
newer E-Series. I also added the DoppelgSngers section.
05/19/06

3.2
Another Badnik-based update. I'm also adding the Organized Lists section.
05/20/06

3.3
Adding more Badniks, as well as a few other changes. The Organized Lists
section wasn't working out, so I got rid of it.
05/23/06

3.4
I made all of Chaos' forms separate characters and added 'Weapon of
Choice' to the bios.
??/??/?? (Forgot to add the date >_<)

3.7
Adding a new system to the Games Masterlist.
06/13/06

3.8
Adding the Metallic characters from Sonic Heroes, as well as the alternate
Shadows from Shadow the Hedgehog.
06/29/06

3.9
Changing 'The President' to 'Michael R.,' his real name. I found this
information on Wikipedia. God knows how they got it. Also adding a few more
Badniks and the Alternate Forms section.
07/06/06

4.0
Adding Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine characters.
07/08/06

4.1
A whole new Games masterlist and some Badniks.
07/08/06 (Same day, but 4.0 was around 2 am. This is in the late afternoon)

4.2
Updating the Games Masterlist, adding more Badniks, the chao from SA2 and
SA2B multiplayer, and the Battle Kukku Army.
07/25/06

4.3
Adding characters from games that appeared in compilation games (Vectorman,
Ristar the Shooting Star, Flicky, etc.).
07/26/06

4.4
Adding the To-Do List, as well as a few more characters.
07/??/06 (Forgot to add the date...)

4.5
Adding a great deal of new Badniks.
08/01/06

4.6
New Badniks.
08/04/06

4.7
I'm expanding some of the more major entries.
08/06/06

4.8
Just expanding it and making it look better. It's almost done!
08/08/06

4.9
More expanding and a few more Badniks. This was a massive update.
08/10/06

5.0
Adding the Powerups section.
08/12/06

5.1
More expanding.
08/21/06

5.2
I was lying on my bed, listening to music, when suddenly I remembered my
goal was to get entries for all the Badniks before it's announced whether
or not Sonic will be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and there was a big gaming
conference tomorrow! AGH!!! I need to get all the Badniks in TODAY!
08/22/06

5.3
Well, false alarm. Turns out SSBB wasn't even going to be demoed in the
first place. Well, anyway, I'm just working more on the guide. Overall
expanding and blah blah blah.
09/03/06

5.4
As stated above, a bizarre formatting error caused all my apostrophes,
accented characters, and dashes to become question marks, and it was
irreversible, so I had to do it all manually. I think I fixed everything,
but errors may still exist. If so, please notify me.

Aside from that, I removed the DoppelgSngers section, and I'm continuing to
update the profiles to the new format. I hope to finish this within a few
weeks.
09/07/06

5.5
I've finished basically everything. It's ready for submission!
09/12/06

5.6
Crap. Turns out I had the margins wider than I thought, and the guide is
too long for GameFAQs. I could adjust the margins, but now that the text is
set to the longer one, if I do that, it'll have that screwy look where
certain lines are drastically shorter than other, and everyone hates that,
so I have to do this manually.
09/13/06

5.7
Well, I'm done (again). I'll try resubmitting it with the proper margins.
09/14/06

5.8
A big update, with new characters, new data, and even a new section.
10/09/06

5.9
A slight update to the contact section, with a new "Don't" and the E-Mail
count.
10/15/06

6.0
I just read some news on Wikipedia. It's a little fuzzy, but apparently,
Metal Sonic is the 5th character in Sonic Rivals! Woot! Apart from adding
this information, I'm also fixing an embarrasingly blatant error in the
Black Arms section, making a couple changes to the Games Masterlist, and
deleting the Pre-Metal Madness Metal Sonic entry, beause it would seem that
it's not really a new form, but more of a different style.
10/17/06

6.1
Okay, forget the "fuzzy" comment, he's in for sure. I even have
screenshots. Go to the Metal Sonic entry to see them. WHOO! Man, I never
thought I was going to get a PSP, but this might change my mind...
10/20/06

6.2
A few additions (A couple error-fixings, the addition of the most obscure
- and creepy - character in Sonic history, even creepier than Tails Doll,
and a new game), but this update is a landmark! I HAVE GOTTEN MY FIRST
E-MAIL!!! WOOT! I added his name (ExtremistLine) to the thanks section and
put a note in the "What I Need" section about a possible name for the first
S&K miniboss that he sent me.
10/21/06

6.3
Biiiiiiiiig update. Godzillions of new characters, the addition of the
Quote entry in the profiles, and overall error-fixing. Also, I've realized
that I need to enter some of the comic characters, because they appear in
the comics section of SMC.
11/13/06

6.4
Well, now that Sonic 06 is out, I figured I'd update the guide with the new
info. While I was at it, I added some Secret Rings characters, as well. The
new characters are: Super Silver, Solaris, Eggod, Ring Fairy, Genie, and
Sonic Man. I've also made a few minor changes to a few other characters,
such as Eggman Nega.
11/16/06

6.5
Quite a bit of new stuff, mainly surrounding Sonic Rivals. Also, I've gotten
my second e-mail! It supplied some information on Emerl and Gemerl, which I
added. Also, I found out that Metal Sonic's pre-Metal Madness/Overlord look
is indeed a seperate form, and is called Neo Metal Sonic, so I'm adding that,
as well as Yuji Naka himself, seeing as how he got a few apppearances. In
short, the added profiles are: Egg Kong, Egg Turtle, Egg Lynx, Egg Falcon,
Vultur, Venoom, Metal Hound, Drill Worm, Neo Metal Sonic, and Yuji Naka. I've
also added a few games and cameos. I've ALSO removed the powerups section,
because it was too hard to list them all, and some were kind of fuzzy about
whether or not they were powerups or not.
11/20/06

6.6
A few additions, most notably the trivia section.
11/22/06

6.7
I'm starting to work on the G.U.N. robots. Just like Eggman's creations, I'll
only cover autonomous machines (i.e. No vehicles, just robots). I've also
added Stolen from Sonic Riders, as well as the villains from Tails' games.
All in all, the added profiles are: Mono Beetle, Gun Beetle, Rocket Beetle,
Bomb Beetle, Spark Beetle, Spring Beetle, Gold Beetle, Gun Wing, Bomb Wing,
Gun Hunter, Laser Hunter, Shield Hunter, Rhino Jet, Rhino Cannon, Rhino
Spike, Rhino Metal, Rhino Spring, Mono Hawk, Gun Hawk, Laser Hawk, Sky Hawk,
Bomb Hawk, Hornet-3, Hornet-6, Hornet-9, Phoenix, Laser Hornet, Cell, Guard,
P-1, P-100, Float, R7, LZ-1, Stolen, Carrotteia, Fockewulf, Bearnger, and
Witchcart. I've also fixed the order of the E-Series, something that I've
been meaning to do for months.
11/26/06

6.8
I've added three new Chaos Powers (and fixed Chaos Boost) as well as some new
characters from the Japanese version of Sonic Gems Collection. I also fixed
something in the trivia section. Overall, the new characters are: Axel Stone,
Blaze Fielding, Adam Hunter, Mr. X, Galsia, Y.Signal, Nora, Jack, Haku-Oh,
Antonio, Souther, Abadede, Bongo, Onihime, Yasha, Max Thunder, Eddie "Skate"
Hunter, Robot Y, Shiva, Ash, Roo, Bruce, Dr. Zan Gilbert, Robo, and Mobo.
12/05/06

6.9
Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukah/Happy Kwanzaa/whatever it is you celebrate! I've
added Theme Songs to the profiles, underneath Cancelled Appearances.
12/22/06

7.0
Just remembered the GBA Video Collections with Sonic X episodes. *sigh* Looks
like I'm going to be including Sonic X characters now... I'm also adding Egg-
Cerberus from Sonic '06 as well as the Black Arms, the Small Animals, and
Knuckles Doll and Sonic Doll from SA. I've also added some overdue information
on Silver and a one new Sonic Rivals enemy. Overall, the added characters are
MonoClown, Death Leech, Black Warrior, Black Oak, Black Arms Annelid, Gold
Annelid, Killer Plant, Black Wing, Black Hawk, Black Volt, Black Assassin,
Christopher "Chris" Thorndyke, Charles "Chuck" Thorndyke, Sonic Doll, Knuckles
Doll, and Egg-Cerberus.
12/29/06

7.1
Added a few characters from Ristar the Shooting Star, Vectorman, and Vectorman
2. Raster, Warhead, Black Widow Queen, Ohsat, Riho, Adahan, Awaeuck, Itamor,
Uranim, Inonis, and Kaiser Greedy.
01/12/07

7.2
Recieved an e-mail from Kaiser, who told me that Metal Sonic was in S&K, but
that's Mecha Sonic, so I added that to the FAQ to avoid further confusion. I
also added the unnamed Sonic robot from Sonic Adventure, under the uncreative
name of Sonic Robot. I've also added the Battle Kukku Army from Tails
Adventure, as well as three of its specific members: Grand Battle Kukku 15th,
Battle Kukku 16th "Speedy", and Dr. Fukorokov. I also added the Sonic Advance/
Sonic Pinball Party Combo Pack to the games list Lastly, I added two
exceedingly obscure characters from the cover of the 13th issue of the Archie
Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, which was shown in SMC, namely "Official" and
"Flag Holder."
01/18/07

7.3
Minor update. No new characters, just some corrections, such as fixing Hyper
Mecha Sonic's debut information, and adding the possibility of the Biolizard's
gender.
02/01/07

7.4
Um...so, yeah. Didn't ever think anyone would actually go to the site in my e-
mail adress, but someone e-mailed me, saying they did. I added a little note
there explaining what the hell it is (Just a little site I made when I was
about 10, as a test for when I was learning html. I haven't updated it in
months and don't plan to). Also added some minor error corrections on the Small
Animals.
02/02/07

7.5
Big update. BIIIIIIIIG update. ExtremistLine directed me to theghz.com, which
gave me info on ALL of the Cell Phone Sonic games. I also went to Wikipedia and
found all of the online Flash games, and added them, too, which resulted in
about 70 new games. I've also added the following characters: ToeJam, Earl,
Ecco the Dolphin, Driver, Snowman, Anton, Arijigoku Mecha, Ai-ai, Arma, Bane
Motora, Pocky, Kucky, Ricky, Picky, Rocky, Pecky, Dr. D Caine, The Ooze, Sketch
Turner, Mortus, and General Alissa Cyan.
02/11/07

7.6
Bah, crap. My e-mail is down. Don't try to e-mail me until I get it fixed. No
other major updates apart from this warning.
02/16/07

7.7
This is one mother of an update. First off, my e-mail suddenly works again.
Second, WrestlerRyder e-mailed me a truckload of Eggman robots. I also started
on the letters from Sonic's Schoolhouse and Sonic and the Secret Rings
characters. Just picked up SatSR, by the way. It's pretty good, I recommend it,
but be prepared to throw your Wiimote across the room a few times, it can be
extremely frustrating.
03/03/07

7.8
Added the "No Way? No Way!" error message to the games list, since it's
technically an independent game. No, it's not part of Blue Sphere, because in
SMC and SMC+ you can play Blue Sphere, but the error message doesn't appear.
Kind of a stretch, but it's good enough for me. Also added Uhu the Wind Genie
from SatSR, and started putting notices next to all the new characters in the
quick list. I also finally got the names for the S&K minibosses, so I'm adding
them.
03/10/07

7.9
Jeebus, sorry for the delay. I encountered another freak formatting error. This
one erased ALL of my line breaks. Since I'm using a rather limited text editor
and I can't program to save my life, I had to go through every single line of
this god-knows-how-many line guide. Anyway, on with the actual update.

HO-LY ****. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. It's sort of a three-way-cross
between "Finally," "Woot!" and "WTF!?" Looks like I'm going to start including
MARIO characters in this guide, now. I mean, including Ristar the Shooting Star
and Vectorman was enough of stretch. Having to make a profile for Yoshi is
another thing altogether.

Thanks to theghz.com, I found information on a type of Tamagotchi in a
Tamagotchi game on the Saturn which looks practically identical to Sonic. Might
be sort of a stretch, but what the heck. I'll throw it in. Also got the StH3
minibosses from WrestlerRyder. I also remembered an old Sonic game for the Tiger
series of handhelds that I got for 15 cents at a garage sale, and figured I as
might as well add it. I also found some pictures of four ridiculously obscure
Sonic arcade games in Sonic Gems Collection, so I added them. Specifically,
they're called Sega Sonic Popcorn Shop (don't ask), Sonic's Space Tours,
Sonic's Space Tours (New version), and UFO Mini: Sega Sonic. In fact, calling
them Arcade Games is really a stretch, because the Sega Sonic Popcorn Shop
seems to be little more than a popcorn dispenser with Sonic slapped onto it,
both Sonic's Space Tours are toy dispensers that hand out Sonic toys, and UFO
Mini: Sega Sonic is one of those skill crane things. Still, I guess I should
add them.
03/17/07

8.0
I've added Zodnick the Hellhog from Illbleed. He's not REALLY a Sonic
character, but he's an obvious reference - He's got the same eyes, same quills,
bleeds rings, and can use the spindash. I also added Roadkill, Sketch's pet
from Comix Zone, and the Universalamander, which appeared in the comics section
of SMC and SMC+.
03/30/07

8.1
This is easily, hands down, no questions asked THE biggest update I have ever
done. It's simply massive. To start, I redid the template for the games
masterlist, which now holds truckloads of new info, including plot details,
sequels, prequels, different rating systems, and more. Also, I completely
rewrote the entries on several main characters, which now contain immense
amounts of information.

There are also several new games, most of them are rereleases and compilations.
I added a good number of character entries, too.

Lastly, I started counting stage BGM as theme songs. The exact border between
what counts a stage BGM as a theme song is a little hard to define, but it
should be clear. The BGM for, say, Frog Forest in Sonic Heroes might be
considered a theme song for Sonic, since he is played in that level. Then
again, so do all the other 12 playable characters in the game, so it wouldn't
really be fair to call it Sonic's theme song (or anyone else's for that
matter). Conversely, only Sonic can be played on SA2's City Escape, so I'll
count Escape From the City as a Sonic theme song. The weird part comes from
stages like Cannon's Core. Let's take the second section for example. In the
second section, you play as Knuckles and Rouge, with the song Cooperation
playing in the background. Since it's only two characters, not 13, I figure I
can count Cooperation as a theme song for Knuckles and Rouge. Oh, and every
character in Sonic Battle has a "signature stage," so I counted the BGM for
those stages as theme songs.

Man, all that for a tiny change to the theme songs sections.
10/11/07

8.2
This update is mainly an excuse to announce the start of my Sonic blog, Blue
Sphere, but I did justify it by adding the playable animals from Sonic's
Schoolhouse and both of the game's enemies. Yes, both. The game had two enemies
in it, plus Eggman.

Yes, I do realize that Sonic Rush Adventure, Mario & Sonic, and Sonic Rivals 2
have all come out since the last update. I'll add them later, right now I just
want to get my blog on the map.

This guide covers all the characters in the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog, in
case you couldn't tell by the huge ASCII art logo at the top. The reason I did
this is simple: Because I can, and I've got truckloads of free time. I'll
generally try to use as much detail as possible, though, being the lazy bastard
I am, some entries may be a little small. In fact, many entries. <_<

I'm not only covering the main series, but also the spinoffs, such as Knuckles
Chaotix and Shadow the Hedgehog.

Games Masterlist [GMS]

Note that the release date is for the first released version, not including
ports, remakes, and collections. Also, games are usually called by their
English names, unless one of the following is true:

If you e-mail me with a game's rating, don't worry if it isn't part of one of
the systems listed here - I'll accept anything. It'd be nice if you gave me all
their ratings, though. Just in case I can't turn up any information on it.

 -Cell Phone

 -Amy

a Japanese card game which I've never heard of.

-----

Blue Sphere

Systems:
 -Genesis

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Knuckles
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
 -First time Eggman is playable

Locking Sonic the Hedgehog or Sonic Compilation onto Sonic & Knuckles will
result in a screen saying "NO WAY!," since you aren't supposed to lock those
Sonic games onto S&K. However, simulateously pressing A, B, and C will take you
to Blue Sphere, essentially a recreation of StH3 and S&K's special stages. The
game has a whopping 134,217,728 stages.

-----

Blue Sphere (Second version)

Systems:
 -Genesis

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Knuckles
 -Eggman

Remember when I said locking StH or Sonic Compilation onto S&K didn't work?
Well, what about other Genesis games? The answer is this version of Blue
Sphere. Instead of having all 134,217,728 stages, this has just one, but I
don't think it's in the other version. Beating this level with a perfect score
will give you a password, which, when entered into the other version, will take
you to this game's level, bringing the total amount of levels to 134,217,729.
Note that not *every* Genesis game does this - there are a couple which will
just bring up Sonic & Knuckles.

-----

Chao Adventure (1998)

Systems:
 -VMU

ESRB Rating: E

The classic Chao minigame for Sonic Adventure. You can toss a Chao in here and
take it for a walk, training its skills. It was replaced with Tiny Chao Garden
connectivity in SADX.

-----

Chao Adventure 2 (2001)

Systems:
 -VMU

ESRB Rating: E

The sequel to the original Chao Adventure lets you put your Chao into your
memory card and take him for a walk. This one was a bit more complicated than
the original. Similar Chao Adventure, this was replaced by Tiny Chao Garden
connectivity in SA2B.

-----

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (1993)

Systems:
 -Genesis
 -Master System
 -Game Gear
 -Wii (Virtual Console)

ESRB Rating: E
VRC Rating: GA

Eggman has decided that the best way to conquer the world is to make sure that
everyone is depressed, so he steals the citizens of Beanville, who entertain
everyone, and makes them into robot slaves. The game plays sort of like Tetris.
You drop beans from the sky and line them up, trying to connect four or more of
the same color. Getting combos will drop a load of unusable "garbage" beans on
your opponent, who is trying to do the same as you. When someone's has so many
beans that they can't fit in any more, the other person wins.

ESRB Rating: K-A

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

It's essentially identical - the most major change is the title screen. See
Sonic Blast for the main information.

-----

Knuckles Chaotix (1995)

Systems:
 -Sega 32X

ESRB Rating: K-A

Playable Characters:
 -Knuckles
 -Espio
 -Vector
 -Charmy
 -Mighty
 -Heavy
 -Bomb

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
-Marks the debut of the Chaotix

Carnival Island, a gigantic theme park, is going to open tomorrow. It's on
Angel Island, so naturally it's Knuckles' job to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Just as naturally, Eggman wants to destroy everything. His newest doomsday
device needs the Master Emerald, which is powering Carnival Island. Knuckles
returns from looking around the edge of the island to find Espio, Vector,
Charmy, and Mighty tied up. He realizes that he can rescue them using rings,
but only one at a time. So, obviously, he does so. >_>

The story is different in Japan. Eggman has discovered Angel Island, and has
gone there to find Rings that a fused with Chaos energy. He builds a base and
tries to find the rings, trapping everyone but Knuckles in a machine of his.
After that, the story is essentially the same. Knuckles finds them, rescues
them one at a time, blah blah blah.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (2007)

Systems:
 -Wii
 -DS

ESRB Rating: RP

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Knuckles
 -Eggman
 -Amy
 -Shadow
 -Blaze
 -Vector
 -Mario
 -Luigi
 -Bowser
 -Peach
 -Daisy
 -Yoshi
 -Wario
 -Waluigi

Important Additions to the Series:
-Aside from that cameo in Donkey Kong Country 2, this is the first game in
which Mario characters and Sonic characters have appeared together.

This one just came right out of left field. It was announced only a few days
before the dreaded April Fools Day, but it's legit. It's mentioned on countless
websites, including Nintendo and SEGA's. Plus, they had to buy the rights to
use the official Olympics logo, which is extremely expensive. That's a bit of
work for a little April Fools Day prank.

Anyhow, it's pretty much what the name implies. A bunch of Mario characters and
a bunch of Sonic characters get together and start competing at the 2008
Beijing Olympics. The currently announced events are a 100 Meter Footrace,
table tennis, various forms of swimming, and judo (O_o). It's also been stated
that it will utilize the Wii and DS' features as much as possible. I can't wait
to see a wrestling match between Tails and Yoshi. :\

-----

Miles "Tails" Prower Puzzle (Release date unknown)

Systems:
 -Online Flash game (http://sonic.sega.jp/enjoy/flash/puzzle/002/index.html)

Leaping straight from "HOLY CRAP, THAT'S AWESOME!" to "Oh, no, not again..."

-----

Nakayoshi Chao! (2002)

Systems:
 -Cell Phone

A Chao raising game for the Cell Phone, for those who want to be begged for
food 24 hours a day.

-----

No Way? No Way! (1994)

Systems:
 -Genesis

I can imagine the stares this guide is getting right now. I'm serious about
this. Remember way back when I was talking about Blue Sphere, and how you had
to press A, B, and C at a certain error message? This is it. The reason I'm
counting this as a game is sort of a stretch. It's because when you play Blue
Sphere in SMC and SMC+, the error message does not appear, and you go straight
to the game.

Okay, so it's a HUGE stretch. You can stop throwing garbage at me, now.

-----

Rouge the Bat Puzzle (Release date unknown)

Systems:
 -Online Flash game (http://sonic.sega.jp/enjoy/flash/puzzle/008/index.html)

Uh-huh. Another one.

-----

Sega Sonic Popcorn Shop (1993)

Systems:
 -Arcade

Playable Characters:
 -Tails

This is another one of those "...are you serious?" games. Basically, you
control Tails, who had to bring popcorn to a fire in order to pop it. You could
then play minigames while it popped. After it was done, it would come out in a
cup with Sonic and Tails on it.

In other words, this is a popcorn dispenser with Sonic and Tails slapped onto
it.

-----

Shadow Shoot (2006)

Systems:
 -Cell Phone

Playable Characters:
 -Shadow

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Eggman has, of course, stolen a Chaos Emerald. Shadow picks up a gun (Oh, boy)
and goes after him. The best way to describe it would probably be Sonic 3D
Blast, but with sprites and Shadow is the only playable character. And he has
guns.

-----

Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)

Systems:
 -GameCube
 -PlayStation 2
 -XBox

ESRB Rating: E10+
CERO Rating: A
PEGI Rating: 12+
Portugese PEGI Rating: 12+
OFLC Rating: PG

Playable Characters:
 -Shadow
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Knuckles
 -Amy
 -Eggman
 -Vector
 -Espio
 -Charmy
 -Omega
 -Rouge
 -Doom's Eye
 -Maria
 -Blue Metal Shadow
 -Green Metal Shadow
 -Pink Metal Shadow
 -Yellow Metal Shadow
 -Yellow Shadow
 -Super Shadow (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Black Doom
 -Doom's Eye
 -Devil Doom

Important Additions to the Series:
-First Sonic game to get a rating higher than E
 -Shadow's first game
 -Guns. 'Nuff said.

Shadow is sitting on a hillside, wondering about his past, when the nearby city
of Westopolis is attacked by NINJAS! THOUSANDS OF THEM!

I mean aliens. The city is attacked by aliens. Shadow doesn't care, and walks
away, when their leader, Black Doom, appears before him and adresses him by
name, stunning him. He tells Shadow of a promise that he supposedly made,
where he was supposed to gather all seven Chaos Emeralds for Doom. Shadow has
no idea what he's talking about, but just as he asks, Doom fades away. Shadow
runs off to find the emeralds, not sure what to think. Throughout the game,
Shadow uses guns, missiles, knives, and other out of place things to get
through the levels, and can also hop into vehicles. There are a number of
paths tot take throughout the game, but you ultimately end up fighting Black
Doom's super form, Devil Doom, as Super Shadow. You also learn that Shadow was
created from Doom's DNA, and was secretly designed as a counter to the Black
Arms.

Interestingly, much of the game's content was censored. While the Black Arms
still bleed when killed, and Shadow still screams "DAMN!" every time something
even remotely negative happens, a few things were censored. For instance, Sonic
says in one scene "I'd hate to tick G.U.N. off." Before the game was released,
he said "I'd hate to piss G.U.N. off." Another thing that was changed was right
after Doom leaves in the first cutscene, Shadow says "Just what was that all
about?" He used to say "What the hell was that all about?," though he still
tells Eggman to go to hell in another scene. Also, the Black Arms' blood used
to be red, but it was changed to green, and human blood was removed completely.
The last censored scene was the cutscene where Maria is shot. At first she was
shown falling over and dying, but it was changed so you just saw the G.U.N.
officer pointing the gun and shooting. Ironically, a freeze frame of the
removed scene is still shown before the boss fight with Heavy Dog.

-----

SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol (Sometimes just called SegaSonic Cosmo
Fighter) (1991, Japan Only)

Systems:
 -Arcade

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Sort of a cross between a video game and one of those cheap kiddie rides you
can always find outside grocery stores. You get inside a little spaceship and
use the controls to navigate Sonic, who is piloting a spacecraft. At the end of
each level, you have to fight Eggman. If you succeed, you get an upgrade. The
entire ride tilts to match your commands.

-----

SegaSonic the Hedgehog (1993)

Systems:
 -Arcade

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Mighty
 -Ray

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

In a mirror image of what usually happens, Sonic and friends have been captured
and are trying to get out of Eggman's base. Instead of being a platformer, the
game is more of a fast paced action game. There are little to no gaps - the
main threat is the constant flurry of attacks. In addition, you can't stop,
because there's always a gigantic hazard following you, such as a magma flow.

-----

Sonic & Knuckles (1994)

Systems:
 -Genesis

VRC Rating: GA

Sequel To: Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Knuckles
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Knuckles' first playable appearance

Carrying on from where StH3 left off, with the Death Egg crashing into Angel
Island. Eggman is trying to repair it, and decides to use the all-powerful
Master Emerald to fuel it. He ditches Knuckles, who he tricked into helping him
last time. Knuckles realizes he's been tricked, and teams up with Sonic to
defeat Eggman.

S&K was originally planned to be part of StH3, but due to time constraints,
they split it into two games.

-----

Sonic & Knuckles Collection (1997)

Systems:

 -Blue Sphere

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

 -Super Knuckles (Unlockable)
 -Hyper Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

A compilation of Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Blue
Sphere. See their respective entries.

One notable thing about this game is the fact that some of the music was
changed, possibly due to technical or legal reasons. Also notable is that in
North America and Europe, the game came with a plethora of Sonic-based computer
add-ons, such as a Sonic screensaver and Sonic icons. It was called Sonic the
Screensaver, and was sold seperately in Japan.

-----

Sonic 2 & Knuckles (1994)

Systems:
 -Genesis

Playable Characters:
 -Knuckles

S2&K is little more than Sonic 2, but with Knux as the only playable character.
A few changes are made, such as making the game easier to play as Knuckles and
the addition of secret 1Ups to certaina areas that your newfound echidna powers
let you reach.

-----

Sonic 3 & Knuckles (1994)

Systems:
 -Genesis

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Knuckles
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)
 -Super Tails (Unlockable)
 -Super Knuckles (Unlockable)
 -Hyper Sonic (Unlockable)
 -Hyper Knuckles (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

This is basically Sonic 3 with four basic changes: 1) As soon as you finish
Sonic 3, the game goes straight to Sonic & Knuckles 2) You can play as Knuckles
in Sonic 3 3) You can play as Tails in Sonic & Knuckles, and 4) There are two
more save slots. Also, the save feature works for Sonic 3 levels. There are
also some other, minor differences.

-----

Sonic 3D Blast (1996)

Systems:
 -Saturn
 -Genesis
 -PC

ESRB Rating: K-A
PEGI Rating: 3+
Portugese PEGI Rating: 4+
OFLC Rating: G

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Sonic's first foray into the world of 3D, Sonic 3D Blast is little more than
an isometric platformer. The story is simple: Eggman finds magical birds named
Flickies who can travel anywhere, and decides to use them to hunt for Chaos
Emeralds. None other than Sonic the Hedgehog pops up and destroys him. Hooray.

-----

Sonic 3D E3 Demo (Cancelled)

Systems:
 -Genesis

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

A demo of Sonic 3D Blast which was shown at E3. I'm assuming the game's title
didn't contain "Blast" at the time, because it's absent here, too.

-----

Sonic Advance (2001)

Systems:
 -Game Boy Advance

ESRB Rating: E
CERO Rating: A

Prequel To: Sonic Advance 2

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Knuckles
 -Amy
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
-The first Sonic game to appear on a Nintendo console

Sonic Advance is arguably the most controversial chapter in the Sonic universe
we'll see until they come out with a Rouge the Bat sex game.

Although not the first Sonic game to appear on a non-SEGA platform (Sonic Jam,
Sonic Pocket Adventure, and that crappy Sonic Tiger game had already done
that), it was the first to appear on a Nintendo system, shattering the decade-
long rivalry the two companies had shared. In an event that seemed to fortell
the apocalypse, Sonic was appearing on the Game Boy Advance.

As for the game itself, it's actually a pretty simple Sonic platformer. You can
play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or Amy, and eventually can play as Super Sonic
in the end. It was, however, the first time Amy was playable in a 2D
sidescroller, not counting that three-and-a-half-second long period in Sonic CD
where she followed you around.

-----

Sonic Advance/Sonic Pinball Party Combo Pack (Release date unknown)

Sonic Advance 2 (2002)

ESRB Rating: E

Sequel To: Sonic Advance

Prequel To: Sonic Advance 3

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails (Unlockable)
 -Knuckles (Unlockable)
 -Amy (Unlockable)
 -Cream (Unlockable)
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
-Amy's first playable appearance in a 2D Sidescroller
 -Cream's debut

Guess what? Eggman stole a Chaos Emerald. Shocker, I know. He also kidnapped
Tails, Knuckles, and Cream, so it's, of course, up to Sonic to rescue them.
The game is pretty much a basic Sonic platformer, with a couple of new
features, such as aerial tricks. Cream was originally supposed to debut in
Sonic Heroes, but was tossed into Sonic Advance 2 because it didn't offer
anything new. She was swapped with Amy, who became a super-secret character
only unlockable when all four other characters had collected all seven Chaos
Emeralds.

-----

Sonic Advance 3 (2004)

Systems:
 -Game Boy Advance

ESRB Rating: E

Sequel To: Sonic Advance 2

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Eggman
 -Knuckles (Unlockable)
 -Amy (Unlockable)
 -Cream (Unlockable)
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Gemerl

Eggman has used a Chaos Emerald to blow the planet in two. Sonic and Tails are
on one side, with Knuckles, Amy, and Cream on the other. Sonic and Tails team
up to find the source of the disaster. The game is a pretty basic Sonic
platformer, save for the fact that you team up characters to get different
abilities. Also, Eggman has used the remaining parts of Emerl to make Gemerl,
a new robot.

In case you're questioning Eggman's inclusion on the Playable Characters list,
you can play as him in multiplayer.

Sonic Adventure (1998)

Systems:

ESRB Rating: E

Prequel To: Sonic Adventure 2

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails (Unlockable)
 -Knuckles (Unlockable)
 -Amy (Unlockable)
 -Big (Unlockable)
 -Gamma (Unlockable)
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Chaos (All forms)

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Big's debut
 -The E-Series' debut
 -Chaos' debut
-The first mainstream 3D Sonic game

Eggman has found information on Chaos, an ancient god of destruction. Being the
kind of guy he is, he decides to use it to conquer the world. He uses it to
fight Sonic, who temporarily defeats it. Gradually, more characters get added
into the mix. Tails is just helping out Sonic. Knuckles is trying to recover
the broken pieces of the Master Emerald. Amy is trying to save a Flicky from
ZERO, the prototype of the E-100 series. Big is trying to recover his lost
friend, Froggy. Lastly, E-102 Gamma has betrayed his master, Eggman, and is
going around, blowing his brothers to pieces. Ah, brotherly love.

Eventually, Chaos manages to gather all seven Chaos Emeralds and becomes
Perfect Chaos, a massive reptillian monstrosity. Sonic uses the Emeralds'
remaining posotive energy to become Super Sonic and defeats Chaos. Tikal, who
has been explaining everything to the characters throughout the game, brings
Chaos back to Angel Island, and the everything is fine. Well, except for the
fact that Chaos reduced the city to ruins. But hey. That's a job for someone
else.

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Shadow's debut
 -Rouge's debut
 -Maria's debut
 -Gerald's debut
-Set the ball rolling for pretty much every Sonic game since
 -Introduces Chaos Control

Eggman just found out about a secret government weapon codenamed Shadow, which
was so powerful they had to shut it down out of fear. Oblivious to the fact
that it would probably end up force-feeding him his own arm, he goes after it.
He finds that it's actually a hedgehog who is strikingly similar to Sonic. He
introduces himself as Shadow, and joins Eggman as a token of gratitude for
releasing him. Shadow then goes off on a rampage, gathering Chaos Emeralds.
Everyone mistakes him for Sonic, who is promptly arrested. Sonic escapes, but
is captured again, and escapes again. <_<

Meanwhile, Knuckles is fighting with newcomer Rouge the Bat over who should get
the Master Emerald. Eggman comes in and steals it. Knuckles jumps up and breaks
the emerald. Rouge flips out and strangles him. Knuckles tries to explain that
he can repair it, but Rouge just cares about getting the emerald. They both set
off to find the pieces, which Knuckles' punch somehow managed to launch across
the planet.

The story goes on in this direction, with Rouge joining Eggman and Shadow. They
take over Space Colony ARK and test out the Eclipse Cannon, a massive energy
cannon capable of shattering planets, given the power of all seven Chaos
Emeralds. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy all board the ARK and try to stop
Eggman. From here, it's basically the two groups trying to stop each other,
ultimately ending up with Sonic and Shadow nearly killing each other. Eggman
has six Chaos Emeralds, and steals the last one from Tails. Upon installing all
seven Emeralds in the Cannon's power supply, it drops out of orbit. Gerald,
Eggman's grandfather, appears on a screen and informs everyone that he went
insane after his granddaughter, Maria, was killed, and designed the ARK to
plummet to the Earth when all the emeralds were put inside. The Biolizard is
also released, which Shadow fights. Although he defeats it, it's still alive,
and it attaches to the cannon in order to manually pull The ARK towards Earth.

Sonic and Shadow enter their super forms and defeat the Biolizard, who is now
called the Finalhazard. They then Chaos Control the station back into orbit.

The introduction of Shadow and his mysterious past set the ball rolling for
much of Sonic Heroes' plot and the entire plot of Shadow the Hedgehog.

Jesus Christ that was one big entry.

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is mainly a port of SA2. The main differences went to
multiplayer mode and Chao raising. All of the unlockable multiplayer characters
are unlocked from the start now, though the secret karts still have to be
earned. Chao raising also got a few changes. Chao Karate is now added, the Chao
Kindergarten has more features, and the VMU connectivity has been replaced with
Tiny Chao Garden compatability. Also, while transferring Chao from SA to SA2
was glitchy and unintentionally possible, trading Chao from SA2B to SADX is
completely possible, though you have to do it indirectly, by trading your Chao
to your GBA, then transferring it to the other game.

The main game also got a few changes, but they were mostly minor, such as
adding tires to City Escape which you could kill enemies with.

Sonic, while relaxing, is visited by Shahra, a genie from the Arabian Nights.
She tells him that Erazor Djinn, an evil genie from the stories, is rampaging
in her universe, and if he succeeds, will escape into the real world. She asks
Sonic to help. He's confused at first, but eventually agrees. They go into the
book, and try to gather the seven World Rings, the universe's counterpart of
the Chaos Emeralds. Along the way, they meet Ali Baba, Sinbad, and King
Shahryar, who are all similar to Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman, respectively.

Long story short, they succeed, and Sonic activates a new Super Form. Similar
to how the Chaos Emeralds activate Super Sonic and the Super Emeralds activate
Hyper Sonic, the World Rings activate Darkspine Sonic, who lacks magical
energy, but has immense physical strength.

SatSR also has a huge multiplayer mode, which lets you play as Sonic, Tails,
Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Cream, Silver, or Blaze, and features Mario party-style
minigames.

4,000 years ago, an ancient civilation created the Gizoid, a robotic weapon
fueled by the Chaos Emeralds. After the civilization disappeared, the Gizoid
was lost. Los6, that is, until Eggman came across it. He to get it to obey him,
but it refused, so he tossed it and made copies of it which would work. Sonic
then finds him, and makes a "link" with it, which means it'll obey him and no
one else unless Sonic tells him to. Due to its usage of Chaos Emeralds, Sonic
dubs him Emerl. Sonic and friends train it, and it slowly becomes stronger.
Eventually, Eggman finds out that it's working, and tries to steal it. Emerl
keeps on getting stronger, and eventually gets too strong and reverts to his
original programming, becoming a weapon of mass destruction. He goes ballistic
and tries to destroy the planet, but is stopped by Sonic. Sonic kills Emerl,
who says he'll remember Sonic as a friend.

The ending was largely a setup for Sonic Advance 3, which features Eggman
rebuilding Emerl as Gemerl, an evil henchman of his.

Sonic Blast is a relatively basic Sonic platformer with few remarkable

Sonic CD (1993)

Systems:
 -Sega CD
 -PC

ESRB Rating: K-A (PC version, Sega CD version is unrated)
VRC Rating: GA

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
-Amy (veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery briefly in the Collision Chaos Zone)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Metal Sonic

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Metal Sonic's debut

One month out of every year, an small planet appears above Never Lake. The
planet, appropriately named Little Planet, contains the seven Time Stones, gems
which control the passage of time. Eggman rushes over to harness their power.

Sonic finds this out, and runs over to the Little Planet to stop him. However,
Eggman has kidnapped Amy Rose and used her as bait. Sonic then meets Metal
Sonic, a mechanical version of himself. Sonic runs along the planet, gathering
Time Stones and defeating Badniks, until he reaches Stardust Speedway. He meets
up with Eggman and Metal Sonic. Eggman gets behind both of them and fires a
gigantic laser at the ground, powerful enough to kill you even if you have
rings. Sonic and Metal Sonic begin racing to the end - the loser of the race
will fall victim to the laser. Naturally, Sonic wins, and Eggman accidentally
toasts his own creation.

Sonic CD featured a unique Time Traveling feature, where Sonic would activate
Time Posts, which were labelled "Past" or "Future." When he got going fast
enough, he would warp to whatever time period the last sign he touched said.
In the past, there would be a Badnik Generator and a hologram of Metal Sonic.
Destroying the generator would kill all badniks in the level. I don't think
the hologram did anything, but it was neat to see if you could find all of
them. When in the future, there were two possibilities: Good Future and Bad
Future. In the Good Future, Eggman has been defeated, and there are very few
hazards and enemies. In Bad Future, Eggman has won, and Badniks run rampant.
It's random which result you get, but if you destroyed the generator in the
past, the chances of Good Future are exponentially increased.

Sonic CD is widely considered the best game in the series by the community.
Personally, I have to agree. In fact, Sonic CD was the first Sonic game I ever
played! (Albeit on the PC version)

Sonic Coin Roller (Release date unknown) (Note: I do not know the official name
of this game. In fact, it may not even HAVE a name.)

Systems:

I read about this online. It's apparently a pinball-ish game where you roll a
coin into some sort of mechanism and tried to get it to roll over a flashing
light. It would then award you with rings based on which light you hit. After
the game was over, it would give you tickets based on how many rings you got.
The tickets could be used to buy prizes at the arcade you happened to be at.

In Team Sonic's story, Eggman has sent a letter to Tails and Knuckles, warning
them of an imminent attack. They fly off in the Tornado 2 to find Sonic. Sonic
reads it, then runs off to find Eggman.

Meanwhile, Cream has lost Chocola Chao, Big has lost Froggy, and Amy wants to
find Sonic, so they team up and look for the three.

Around the same time, Rouge infiltrated Eggman's base and tried to find some
sort of treasure. Instead, she finds Shadow and a psychotic robot. Shadow is in
stasis, and Rouge wakes him up. She also accidentally reactivates E-123 Omega,
the last of the E-100 series. Omega mistakes Shadow for an Eggman robot and
starts attacking him. Rouge breaks it up and figures out what's happening.
Eggman started work on the E-1000 and E-2000 series, and found no need for the
E-100s, so he shut them down. Omega is infuriated by this, and wants to kill
Eggman. Shadow, on the other hand, can't remember a thing, and wants his memory
back.

Lastly, business has been slow for the Chaotix detective agency, when Charmy
suddenly runs in which a job offering. A mysterious individual wants them to
do various tasks, and offers a hefty pay. They accept, per their policy of
always accepting work that pays, and begin completing the missions.

Throughout the game, all four teams battle Eggman in various mechs, but every
time they do, it turns out it's just a fake. The decoy melts to liquid and
vanishes, leaving the characters confused as to where Eggman is. Eventually,
they all end up inside Eggman's newest armada, the Egg Fleet. Team Rose finds
Chocola and Froggy, Omega gets to make a serious dent in Eggman's army, and the
Chaotix rescue their client, who turns out to be Eggman. Eggman admits that he
doesn't have the money he promised, but assures them that once he conquers the
world, he is planning on paying them. Naturally, they're pissed off, so Charmy
beats the living daylights out of him.

Suddenly, a mysterious figure appears on a tower on the Egg Fleet's flagship.
Everyone runs out to see who it is, and it turns out to be Metal Sonic, or,
more specifically, Neo Metal Sonic. He destroys a large portion of the flagship
with a bolt of lightning and uses the debris to transform into Metal Madness,
his new, dragonlike form. Eggman tells everyone that it's hopeless without the
Chaos Emeralds. Everyone seems to have conveniently obtained them by unknown
means, so Teams Rose, Dark, and Chaotix fight Madness while Team Sonic enters
their Super Forms. After the other three teams do significant damage to
Madness, he grabs some more debris and becomes Metal Overlord, an even MORE
powerful machine. Team Super Sonic flies into the air and beats the tar out of
him, sending him crashing down to earth. He reverts to his normal form and
passes out. Amy chases after Sonic, with Tails following behind, Knuckles walks
off with Rouge, and everything seems normal for once.

Then the Chaotix remember that Eggman still hasn't payed them, so they go and
beat him with his own spine.

Sonic and racing games go together like cookies and milk. Or, at least, they
should.

Sonic R was a Sonic racing game released for the Saturn, and later for Windows.
It, unlike fellow Sonic racing games, Sonic R took place on foot, save for Amy,
who drove a car, and Eggman, who flew in the Eggmobile. Sadly, it was pretty
bad, having unresponsive controls, choppy graphics, and the most annoying
soundtrack known to mankind. Still, it sold well, and gave birth to two new
characters, Tails Doll and Metal Knuckles. Of course, both all but disappeared,
though Metal Knuckles seems to have appeared as a boss in Sonic Advance, and
Tails Doll was referenced in Sonic Adventure.

Contrary to common belief, Sonic R was not actually the first 3D Sonic game.
Sonic the Fighters, released the year before, was completely 3D. And, no, Sonic
3D Blast doesn't count. That was isometric.

I've been thinking about something for a while. There are five tracks. The
first for contain five emblems each. Collecting all of them in a level and
finishing in 3rd, 2nd, or 1st place results in you being challenged by a new
character, based on the level. The last level, however, lacks these emblems.
Also, Amy is the only character without a metal counterpart. Sonic has Metal
Sonic, Tails has Tails Doll, Knuckles has Metal Knuckles, and Eggman has the
Eggrobo. Put two and two together and it seems like there might have been
emblems in the last track before the game was released, and Metal Amy might
have been unlockable. We'll probably never know for sure, but it's interesting
to think about.

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are searching for a Chaos Emerald. As soon as Tails
finds it on his radar, a group of thieves jump out of a bank, holding a Chaos
Emerald. The three chase after them, but lose track before they can get the
emerald.

The next day, Eggman appears on TV to announce a race to see who's the best
with Extreme Gear, the airboards, that the thieves were using. Sonic at first
doesn't care, but changes his mind when Eggman reveals a grand prize of all
seven Chaos Emeralds, and that the current contestants are the mysterious
thieves.

The trio enters the race, and after several races, they get to the final race,
held in Sand Ruins. Sonic is about to win, but Wave activates a bomb she hid on
his board, knocking him off. Jet wins, and uses a mysterious cube to make the
Chaos Emeralds shoot beams of light into the distance, causing a floating
island to rise. Suddenly, Eggman steals the cube, and everyone chases after
him, eventually ending up at the island, the Babylon Garden. They find a
treasure, but awaken the Babylon Guardian, a genie god who protects the garden.
Stretching the limits of our imaginations, they defeat him, and Eggman steals
the treasure, which is the first Extreme Gear ever made, a floating carpet.

Eggman realizes that he hosted this entire race just for an old rag, and
collapses. Everyone takes off, and Sonic and Jet promise to meet again.

Sonic Riders is essentially a racing game on airboards. You gain air by doing
tricks. If you run out of air, you have to run on foot. There are seven ranks
you can get for your tricks: C, B, A, AA, S, SS, and X, in order from worst to
best.

Sonic Rivals starts out as a friendly competition between Sonic and Knuckles,
but Shadow, Silver, and eventually even Metal Sonic get added to the frenzy.
Basically, Nega has turned Amy, Tails, Rouge, and Eggman into cards, and Sonic,
Knuckles, Shadow, and Silver set out to save them. Nega is revealed as Eggman's
distant descendant, and he has teamed up with Metal Sonic. The game's plot
really isn't all that deep, it's mostly just "stop the evil plan."

The gameplay is mostly traditional, too, except you have to race against one of
the other characters.

descendant from ruining the present. Meanwhile, Sonic is trying to stop Eggman
from getting the Chaos Emeralds.

The game is a basic Sonic platformer. It adds the Tension Gauge, which fills up

Eggman isn't really a villain here, but he appears on the title screen, so I

 -Silver's debut

In Soleanna, the City of Water, its princess, Elise, holds the power of Iblis,
a god of fire. If she ever cries, it will be released, and the world will be
plunged into hopelessness. Eggman learns of this and, oblivious to the fact
that he'll die, too, tries to release it. He kidnaps Elise, and Sonic and Tails
run after him. Anticlimactically, they save her, and return to the city.

Meanwhile, a new face, Silver the Hedgehog, enters the present from the future.
He's searching for Sonic when Amy runs into him. They both start looking for
him together. Of course, while Amy wants to try to propose to Sonic, Silver
wants to kill him, but neither of them know what the other wants to do.

They find him, and Silver starts beating the tar out of Sonic. Amy stops Silver
and starts talking to him. While the fight was happening, Eggman stole Elise
again, so Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles chase after him. They give him a Blue
Chaos Emerald which Elise had given them previously in exchange for the
princess, but Eggman just takes it and sends them to the future. They run into
Shadow and Rouge, who explain that just one Chaos Control is not enough to
return them to the present. They agree to work together, but they need two
Chaos Emeralds. Shadow already has one, so they start looking.

Right before all this happened, Shadow accidentally released Mephiles the Dark,
the dark god of time. He's ressurected in Shadow's image, and looks almost
identical to him, save for grey stripes, green eyes, and not having a mouth.
Shadow battled him, and was able to mostly defeat him, but Mephiles trapped him
in the future, explaining why Shadow and Rouge are there (Rouge was along with
Shadow).

In the future, they find out that Elise will die a few days after the date they
left in the present. They find a Chaos Emerald and return to the day Elise
died. Sonic splits up with the rest and manages to save Elise, but then he gets
attacked by Silver. While they're fighting, Eggman kidnaps Elise AGAIN. Shadow
jumps in and attacks Silver. Sonic takes the opportunity to rescue Elise. They
hide in the jungle, but Eggman threatens to destroy Soleanna if Elise doesn't
surrender. She agrees, and she boards his plane and leaves. Sonic runs off to
find it, but as soon as he locates it, its engines malfunction and explode,
killing Eggman and Elise.

Silver explains that Elise can be saved if they time travel to right before
Elise dies. They do so, and Sonic saves Elise.

While this is happening, Shadow is still fighting Silver. They both use Chaos
Control and watch the incident where Mephiles and Iblis were released. Silver,
who was tricked by Mephiles into thinking that Sonic caused it, realizes that
he lied to him, and he leaves to capture Iblis, while Shadow captures Mephiles.

Shadow tells Rouge what he learned about Mephiles and Iblis, and the two try to
make a new Scepter of Darkness, which is what Mephiles was sealed in
originally. They need to know what it was made of, so they try to figure it
out.

Meanwhile, Omega is fighting Mephiles, and defeats him. Mephiles explains that
this is only possible because he is similar to Shadow, who Omega was originally
designed to kill. Omega sadly acknowledges this and admits it to Shadow and
Rouge. The three chase create a new Scepter and chase Mephiles to a temple.
Mephiles finds the Yellow Chaos Emerald, and Shadow fights him. Shadow wins,
but Mephiles reverts to his original ooze form. Shadow tries to seal him, but
it won't work, because Mephiles is using his Shadow-like form, as opposed to
his secondary, crystalline one. Mephiles creates hundreds of clones to fight
Shadow, who destroys them all with a huge blast of energy.

Returning to Silver's storyline, right after he and Sonic save Elise, he runs
off to defeat Iblis with Blaze. They defeat him, and Silver tries to seal Iblis
inside him. He fails, but Blaze seems to be able to, so she sacrifices herself,
leaving Silver depressed about her departure, but happy that Iblis is finally
gone.

Right.

Picking up where Sonic left off, he and Elise are sitting on a hill after the
whole time travel fiasco. Mephiles suddenly appears and impales Sonic with an
upgraded version of Chaos Lance, called Dark Chaos Lance. Elise cries over his
dead body, releasing Iblis. Mephiles fuses with him, and they become Solaris,
who creates a new dimension and teleports everyone there. Eggman explains what
happened to everyone else, and the realize that killing Solaris in the present
won't do anything, because he exists all across the timeline.

Silver suggests that they destroy Solaris in the past, present, AND future, but
Shadow reminds him that it's not possible without Sonic. Elise believes that
the Chaos Emeralds could revive him, so Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Rouge,
Silver, and Omega search for them. They revive him, and he becomes Super Sonic,
who uses his power to turn Shadow and Silver into Super Shadow and Super
Silver. Super Shadow defeats Solaris in the past, Super Sonic in the present,
and Super Silver in the future.

Upon defeating him, Elise and Sonic go back in time to the point where Solaris
is first created as a tiny flame. She blows out the flame, causing everything
to be cancelled out. In other words, I wrote this two and a half page
description of the game's plot for nothing, because none of it happened. X_X

I realize I left some things out, but seriously. It's long enough... <_<
Besides, this is a guide for characters, not games.

The gameplay is similar to Sonic Adventure, with both linear stages and free-
roaming ones. It's also the first time Omega has ever been playable on his own,
without anyone by his side (He was Shadow's partner in ShTH, and was on a team
with Shadow and Rouge in Sonic Heroes).

just your basic "get to the end" platformer.

The only major departures from regular Sonic gameplay are that once you get 100
Rings, the counter goes back to 0 and you get a new life, and the fact that you
can't recover rings after being hit.

Important Additions to the Series:

Sonic the Hedgehog (TV) (Cancelled)

Systems:
 -Genesis (Unconfirmed)

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

A game that was going to be based on the Sonic the Hedgehog TV series,
frequently known as SatAM. It was apparently going to be completely different
than traditional Sonic games. In fact, it seems like it was going to be a bit
like Metal Gear.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992)

Sequel To: Sonic the Hedgehog

Prequel To: Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Systems:
 -Genesis
 -Wii (Virtual Console)

VRC Rating: GA

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Super Sonic's debut
 -Introduces the spindash

Eggman's going to destroy the world. Oh noes. But Sonic saves the day. Hooray,
we're all saved.

Same old, same old.

Sonic 2 did actually add a few things, though. Although the story is pretty
much the traditional "stop Eggman," there are a few additions. For one, the
spindash is introduced. Also, Tails is playable for the first time. There is
also a very small plot, believe it or not. Sonic and Tails meet up and become
fast friends, when suddenly a huge attack is launched by Eggman, who is working
on the Death Egg. Now they have to stop him and his Death Egg.

Hey, I said "very small."

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (GG) (1992)

Sequel To: Sonic the Hedgehog (GG)

Systems:
 -Game Gear
 -Master System

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Tails' debut

This game's storyline is a pain in the neck to write about, because half of the
readers will say I'm wrong. The reason for this is that the instruction booklet
says one thing, but the game's opening scene directly contradicts it. I'll be
going by the story shown in the game itself for two reasons. One, it's more
likely to be the right one, and two, it's a lot shorter.

Sonic is taking a walk when Tails runs past him. Eggman chases after him and
kidnaps him in front of Sonic, who, of course, goes off to rescue him.

The game's gameplay is pretty traditional, except for the fact that it's
insanely difficult compared to most games in the series. For example, the final
boss doesn't give you even ONE RING.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (GG) was, contrary to common beleif, Tails' debut. It just
wasn't until Sonic 2 on the Genesis that he became playable.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994)

ESRB Rating: K-A
ELSPA Rating: 3+
VRC Rating: GA

Sequel To: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Prequel To: Sonic & Knuckles

Systems:
 -Genesis

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Knuckles

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Knuckles' debut
 -The Master Emerald's debut

After his defeat in Sonic 2, Eggman plummeted to Earth, landing on Angel
Island. He starts to repair his Death Egg when he meets Knuckles, the last
surviving member of an ancient race. He convinces the echidna that Sonic and
Tails, who are trying to find him, are going to steal the emeralds, and that he
is here to help him. Knuckles believes him, and goes off to intercept Tails and
Super Sonic, who are coming to the island to finish off Eggman. Knuckles bursts
from the ground when they arrive and steals their emeralds, causing Super Sonic
to revert to his normal form.

Sonic and Tails figure out that Knuckles must be working for Eggman, and they
run off to get the emeralds back before he gives them to Eggman, who will use
them to fuel the Death Sta-I mean Egg.

The game had a much beter engine this time around, which allowed for a
massively more intuitive game. The levels were three times bigger than those in
past games, there are more hazards and enemies, more bosses, higher top speeds,
and, despite all this, no slowdown, even when Sonic 2 suffered from such
problems.

Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos Crush (2006)

Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis (2006)

ESRB Rating: E

Port Of: Sonic the Hedgehog

Systems:
 -Game Boy Advance

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

In a celebration of Sonic's 15th anniversary, Sega decided to release a remake
of the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the GBA.

Unfortunately, it seems the group assigned to the project consisted of three
baboons and an apple core, because the game is almost completely unplayable.
There are numerous collision detection errors, several sprites are incorrect,
the game's physics would give Isaac Newton nightmares, and there's a truckload
of slowdown.

Way to ruin a classic, Sega. >_<

Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure (1999)

ESRB Rating: E
CERO Rating: A

Systems:
 -Neo Geo Pocket Color

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
-Tails (though apparently only through some sort of strange glitch)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman

For some unknown reason, Sega decided to release a Sonic game on the Neo Geo
Pocket Color. It's sort of a blend of oldschool Sonic and next-gen Sonic. The
gameplay is classic Sonic gameplay, but the graphics are based more off of the
newer Sonic games, especially Sonic Adventure.

The apparent randomness of the game led some people to believe that it was a
hoax or mistranslation. Keep in mind, this game was released when Sega was
still making consoles.

Apparently, Tails can be played through a glitch. Strange.

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Knuckles
 -Amy
 -Espio
 -Fang
 -Bean
 -Bark
 -Super Sonic (Unlockable)

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Metal Sonic

Important Additions to the Series:
 -First 3D Sonic game

Whilst working on Fighting Vipers, a bored programmer added in Sonic and Tails
in his spare time. His coworkers liked the idea, so they got permission from
Sega to make a Sonic fighting game. Thus, Sonic the Fighters was born.

Eggman and Metal Sonic have built the Death Egg 2. Tails' spy robot,
RocketMetal, sees it, and alerts him. He builds a spaceship, the Lunar Fox, but
it can only hold one person. Eight people want to go, so, naturally, the
strongest one should. And what better way to determine the strongest in a group
than with a fistfight?

For some reason, the game had eight Chaos Emeralds, as opposed to the normal
seven. However, this was probably just because they wanted eight characters in,
and wasn't important to the plot. Besides, Knuckles' emerald might have been
the Master Emerald, anyway.

If you beat the game with Sonic without losing once, you can activate Super
Sonic during the final boss fight against Metal Sonic and the bonus round
against Eggman. While in Super Form, you are invincible and much more powerful.

Hacking into the game yeilds interesting results. There are six characters
which never appeared as fighters in the game, along with Metal Sonic and
Eggman, who were nonplayable opponents. The first is Honey, a cat who was
supposedly going to be another playable character, or perhaps a secret opponent
who you would fight at a random time. The second character is RocketMetal,
Tails' spy robot from the introduction. The third is one of the robots also
from the game's intro. The fourth is Eggman, but on his own, instead of in the
power suit he fights you in. The fifth is Eggman in the UFO he uses in some
cutscenes. The sixth and final character isn't actually playable, but was
obviously intended to be at some point, because its model data is there. It
looks like some sort of walking tank.

The game was going to be released on the Saturn, but was cancelled.

Sonic Triple Trouble (1994)

ESRB Rating: K-A

Sequel To: Sonic Chaos

Systems:
 -Game Gear

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Knuckles
 -Fang

Important Additions to the Series:
 -Fang's debut

Eggman has stolen all the Chaos Emeralds and is using them to test his Atomic
Destroyer. However, an unfortunate error results in the emeralds being blasted
across the island he was testing on. Sonic and Tails set out to retrieve them
before Eggman does, but Eggman tricks Knuckles into thinking they're stealing
them. Fang the Sniper also wants them for financial gain, so it's a crazy race
to get all the emeralds.

The game is relatively basic, but it's much larger than previous Sonic Game
Gear games. Also, this is the first Sonic game in which Sonic doesn't lose all
of his rings when hit. He loses 30 or 50 depending on the level.

ESRB Rating: RP

Systems:
 -Saturn

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic
 -Tails
 -Knuckles
 -Tiara

Major Villains:
 -Eggman
 -Metal Sonic
 -Fang

Sonic X-Treme was to be the Saturn's "real" Sonic game (Sonic R and Sonic Jam
were spinoffs, and Sonic 3D Blast was just a port). However, after many months
of struggling with the programming, it was cancelled.

The story is vague, but it apparently involved the "Six Magical Rings of Order"
and the ability to create rings. Eggman, Metal Sonic, and Fang were all
supposed to be main villains, and Fang was even intended to die in the game.

It would have been the Sonic series' first true 3D Platformer.

 -Yoshi
 -Donkey Kong
 -Diddy Kong

 -Fox
 -Lucas
 -Ike
 -Popo
 -Nana
 -Pit
 -Snake

Yes, Sonic has been confirmed to appear in the much anticipated third
installment of the Super Smash Bros. series.

:D

Since Sonic's role in the game's storyline is currently unknown, I won't bother
going into detail, though Sonic's debut video shows him working together with
Mario in one of the levels.

At this point in time I should point out that SSBB will be handled irregularly
when compared to other games here. If I were to count every character that
appeared in this crossover, we'd have a Nintendo character guide with some
Sonic characters.

Thus, I'll be using a very different method. It's a little hard to explain, so
bear with me. Characters will only be counted if they originated in the Sonic
universe or are directly based off of the Sonic universe.

Confused? If you aren't, then you probably misunderstood what I said. Or you've
already read this. <_<

Here's the basic gist: I won't be counting, say, Samus Aran in this guide,
despite her playable appearance in SSBB. Nor will I count Palutena, despite her
role in the story and in Pit's Final Smash attack. Or Xananab, despite his
appearance as a trophy.

So what do I mean by "based directly off of the Sonic universe?" Well, as is
common in many fighting games, the Super Smash Bros. series has alternate
costumes. If Sonic were to get a costume which makes his fur red, that red
Sonic would have to be a different character, unless Sonic decided that blue
isn't good enough for him and dyed himself red.

As such, Red Sonic would be counted as a new character. He may have originated
outside of the main Sonic series, but he's directly based off of the Sonic
universe. I already did a similar thing. Bean the Dynamite appeared as a
playable fighter in Fighters Megamix. He had an alternate costume which colored
him blue. I counted that blue Bean, which was based on Bin the Duck, Bean's
inspiration, as a separate character.

However, if Sonic's red costume just puts a red party hat on his head, that
could very well be the same Sonic, just wearing a goofy hat. Sonic with a red
party hat won't be counted. Going back to my Fighters Megamix example, Bark the
Polar Bear's alternate costume was just him in a Santa Claus outfit, so that
wasn't counted.

Regardless of all this insanity, Brawl WILL be counted as a Sonic game. Any
mentioning of the game will not include the "(Not a Sonic game)" tag. Also, I
may undo this policy when I get enough normal characters to drown out the
deranged amounts of new non-Sonic characters. But it'll be a while before that
happens.

Tails Adventure (1995)

ESRB Rating: K-A

Systems:
 -Game Gear

Playable Characters:
 -Tails

Major Villains:
 -Battle Kukku Army

The game's storyline is different by region, so I'll go by the Western version.

Sonic and Tails decide to go their separate ways for a while, so Tails goes off
in his biplane. He finds an island, which he dubs Tails Island, and begins
taking a vacation on it. Suddenly, a large explosion is heard. A Flicky tells
him that the Battle Kukku Army has invaded, so he goes off to fight them.

The game is more puzzle-based than most Sonic games, and has a strong emphasis
on collecting items and searching.

Tiny Chao Garden (2001)

Systems:

You probably know this as the minigame in Sonic Advance/Sonic Advance 2/Sonic
Pinball Party. However, it's also its own game.

If you send a Chao from SA2B to a GBA without one of the above games inside,
you'll get a simplified Tiny Chao Garden. I've never done it, myself, and
seeing as how my GCN-GBA connector cable hasn't been seen for aeons, it'd be
appreciated if somebody could give me some information on it.

Tomodachi Sagashi Chao (2003) (I'm afraid the only info I can turn up on this

Systems:
 -Game Boy Advance

Playable Characters:
 -Sonic

Similar to how sending a Chao from SA2B to a GBA without a Tiny Chao Garden-
equipped game results in a simplified TCG, doing the same thing in SADXresults
in this, Tomodachi Sagashi Chao, which apparently translates roughly to Friend
Search Chao.

You take control of Sonic. Cheese Chao tells you to find a certain Chao within
a time limit. If you have trouble, there are hint balls scat
