PC
Review by TripleJump
"PC Games themselves rule, but PC also has several problems (like any platform)."
Alright, PC is the epitome of consoles. The PC features the easiest online play, best graphics and sound and awesome gameplay. The games themselves are great; it's the baggage that comes with them that makes it terrible.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
The PC can have the most amazing graphics ever seen on a console. The high tech graphics cards available for use are just plain sweet! This however, is the main problem: PC games will be evolving forever and it will cost you a fortune to keep with it. New games with higher requirements are released monthly and you have to buy a better processor and graphics card to keep up. This is awful because a graphics card can cost up to $600 or more and it would be cheaper just to buy a new computer. If you have the money you are fine, but if you are like the millions of gamers out there who don't then you will find this to be annoying.
SOUNDS: 10/10
The sound, like graphics are awesome! Sound is much more cost effective because you probably won't need to update the sound card as often, but every once and a while you will be called to do it.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
PC Games will feature every genre. It has the best of the Sports, Shooters, Racing, (MMO)RPGs, Strategy and more. If you own a decent computer then you will be immersed in a world of endless possibilities of what to play. If you own a computer that isn't up to date, you have few possibilities and will find yourself disappointed time and time again.
CONTROL SCHEME: 10/10
Having a keyboard and mouse will give you the best controls for shooters, RPGs and pretty much any type of game. The only games I wouldn't recommend playing on PC controls would be the kind of games that take no skills (button mashing). The keyboard will also let you type and communicate with other gamers easily!
PERFORMANCE: 6/10
I have never had problems with a console like I've had with PC. Lost internet connections while playing games, defective software and computer crashes are just some of the things you will need to prepare for before getting a PC. Just to keep up you will be spending thousands a year improving your PC's performance just to play a few measly games which most you could play on an older computer or on a console for much cheaper. Lag will probably be a problem when you play a game, get ready to knife someone and miss because they suddenly lurch sideways.
However, if you DO have a decent PC, expect low wait times, fast performance and a gateway to the easiest online play ever devised. Although online availability will pend depending on the game. PC single player games are usually garbage unless it's a game similar to Hitman.
OTHER: 10/10
PC has it all: Internet, Music, Instant Messaging and more. This is great for playing a game if you want to check a guide, or write one of your own and record what you are doing. These aren't necessary for a game (unless you want to play online) but they make a PC more appealing.
Overall: 9/10
The performance factor and costs make this system too expensive to merit a perfect score from me.
